I've never seen Dark Shadows, guess I'll have to Netflix it. From the previews, I really want to see this film, though! I think it looks funny.

I am so over Depp and Burton. I will, however, still see the movie for Eva Green, Chloe Moretz, and Michelle Pfeiffer.

I am a huge fan of Tim Burton's movies so I will probably see this. I know nothing about the rv show. Was it campy or serious? The trailer is definitely going for camp and I don't know if that's Burton's spin on things or if the show was the same. For some reason I always thought it was more horror than humor.

It was supposed to be gothic horror, and the intention was gothic horror... but viewed from the perspective of these days, it's camp.

The TV show seemed to be mostly about long silences while actors tried to remember their lines.

Why didn't they update it to 2012 instead of 1972? Did anyone/Burton make that clear? I agree it would have been much richer if they had.

Actually, I thought Sweeney Todd was dreadful. Me too. I love the all the actors in it, but most of them couldn't sing their way out of a paper bag. Alan Rickman, it pains me to say, was the worst of the bunch. If you are making a musical, it's helpful to cast people who can actually carry a tune. |

Saw it this afternoon and liked it. I will say--do NOT try to take this movie seriously. It's pure fun and nothing more.

As a fan of the TV show I'm so disappointed that this movie looks like utter garbage. They could have done something interesting with it.
