So, Reese's version of Goop, Draper James, is here. I wish she'd stop pimping out her Southernness.* She's lived in LA her entire adult life. The South she's selling is really the junior league world straight out of The Help and reduces the region to a caricature. I'd respect her more if she had a sense of humor about it and throw some delicious Southern White Trash in there. Maybe include "I'm an American Citizen!!" in the set of of embroidered linen napkins? *Disclaimer: I'm a Southerner so I get to judge. |

This Southern girl couldn't agree more! Definitely a very monied, WASPY version of the South. Are we sure she wasn't a rush chair at Ole Miss?

Yes, this is definitely not the South that I'm from! Our people are more flip flops and cut offs than cardigans and pearls. And the fancy Southern women I know already know where to shop for this stuff.
Is being an actress the most boring job in the world? I know that Hollywood is not a great place for women, but I'm just wondering why so many actresses are starting these "lifestyle" sites. Reese has a decent career, what's the motivation to do this? is it purely about the money? Because it seems like a big risk and a lot of work to do something like this.

I'm guessing that it is motivated by money. She hasn't had a box office hit in quite a while so in guessing it's difficult for her to negotiate big dollar pay checks. She's probably doing ok but the lifestyle of a celeb is expensive to maintain. If she's hiring people to run the site for her then in terms of actual work there isn't much work for her.
Goop's financials were pretty awful were they not? But I imagine there is a lot of stuff you could now try and write off as a business expense if you are selling yourself as a "lifestyle guru".

I would have loved if she named it Poon. Haha. Poon and Goop. I don't think I am even interested enough to just check it out for a minute. I'm definitely not her demo she is aiming at anyway.
