Jennifer introduced Michelle Obama at the event they were both attending. I think that refusing to take a picture with her would be pretty rude and foolish. She can raise her daughters to be respectable without snubbing someone.

The First Lady has taken photos with Beyoncé as well. In their professional personas, both women have dressed and danced provocatively. When they meet her or any other dignitary, they are dressed appropriately. I don't see a problem. Emme was there as well in a cute dress and $600 Gucci bag.

She can raise her daughters to be respectable without snubbing someone. I believe it is one thing for Michelle Obama not to snub others and take professional picture with them, but a selfie is more personal especially when Jennifer Lopez labeled it "Me and my girl @flotus at #LULAC national convention for the empowerment of Latinos. #represent #dreambig." and its circulating all over the internet. Michelle Obama is the wife of the President of the United States and should respect her position, and cuddling up in a selfie-personal picture ("my girl") with a woman recently on stage in a skimpy outfit squatting to the audience, and shaking her behind like that, is terrible. If Michelle Obama wanted to get that personal in a photograph, she should have at least taken one with a Latino leader who has really made a difference in their community, and not someone who only represent themselves as a Latino when there is a money-making venture for themselves involved, and lastly not someone that gets on stage in front of an audience, and tries to mimic Miley Cyrus's obsenities.

Who's to say Michelle Obama didn't also take selfies with other Latino leaders "who have really made a difference in their community"? What kind of lady would be so judgmental and rude as to refuse a friendly request for something so mundane as a selfie from a B-list celebrity at a convention?

Guaranteed that Michelle Obama isn't raising her girls to be so needlessly judgmental.

Guaranteed that Michelle Obama isn't raising her girls to be so needlessly judgmental. ITA. If anyone should be getting flack, I would think it would be jlo for trying to imply she's close to Michelle because she's not at all. Jlo hasn't been at an Obama/political event since she separated from Marc. But I guess she's back to being a civic minded Latina since that big album flopped.

Unfortunately, I think current artists are utilizing the "Kardashian Rules of Kareer Success": The quantity not the quality of the product is all that matters. Constantly churn out sidewalk fashion shows, selfies, half naked or completely naked pics, instagram, blog, vine, facebook, tweet and whatever all the time and it sure "seems" like you're successful! The only thing that matters is that they keep putting out product to keep the attention. All that explains J-Los, Madonna's and Lady Gaga's very poor music lately. It also explains the "success" of a Rita Ora or a Miley Cyrus. It easy to "get lazy" when you get the cover of a magazine, perfume deals, adoration with out much work to show for it because you fucked someone famous or because your PR team can crank up the machine. Don't get me wrong I know entertainers have always been "commodites" but they still put out good product because they needed to sell their music to be deemed a success. Not now. I would agree with this except for the fact that Jennifer is the creator of this form of success. That's why it was laughable when she compared herself to Mariah. She managed to squeak out a few hits in the past with a lot of heavy lifting from other people. Benny Medina has always been the mastermind behind her career/image. Now there are just too many younger people that fit into the same category for to get any footing. Yes, I remember the discussions many of us had on Fametracker in 2002 when Jlo was at her height. We had spirited discussions about how she had turned herself into a commodity and a brand and was selling everything from perfumes to stickers. I think the media assumes that this kind of crass commercialization started with the Kardashians, but it really started with Jlo, Paris Hilton and a few others. At that time, Gwyneth Paltrow would have turned her nose up at the crassness of it all, but she eventually bought into the game (just as her career started the downward slide), with her cosmetics contract and goop site. Even Halle Berry is now selling perfume and shoes. Today, you can't tell the difference between a supposedly "real" actress like Gwyneth and Kim Kardashian. While Gwyneth may turn her nose up at the Kardashians and Jlo, she isn't really doing anything different. The media will perceive it as different and more elevated however, but that's only because they perceive Gwyneth as an elite actress. While Jlo was perceived that way very briefly after her movie with George Clooney, everything changed in and around 2002 when she had a number one album at the same time she had a number on movie. She then became a brand full force and for me, she is no different from the Kardashians.

Kim Kardashian even answered in an interview she wanted to model her brand after Jlo. They're both desperate as hell too so there's another thing in common.

I have no beef about J. Lo taking a selfie with the FLOTUS. Now if it were Kim K. doing that, then I would have given a side eye.
