Please tell me I'm not the only one watching this trainwreck. This past week's episode featured a jilted Jennifer Love Hewitt singing a karaoke version of "Before He Cheats." I'm officially hooked.

So what exactly is the premise of this? I've heard that it is based on the movie where JLH plays a hooker, but they changed it up a bit and now she's just a masseuse that gives "extra" service. I haven't watched it. In all honesty, I'm more interested in reading snark about it than actually watching the show.

It's a little different than the movie. In the movie, JLH was a former beauty queen and had a different name (Sam, I think?). Her husband can't work because of an old football injury and their home is about to be foreclosed on, so she gets a job at a massage parlor where they give "extras"/are prostitutes. She's still with her husband through all of this and ends up hooked on cocaine and then the parlor gets busted and she is arrested. Her husband leaves her and she goes to jail, but at the end of the movie I think she ended up going back to school or something and they hinted that she and her husband might get back together. In the TV show her name is Riley. Same situation with the husband who can't work. She gets a job at the massage parlor but won't give "extras" (they have a "client list" of the folks who will pay more for extras, but they also give regular massages). Then her husband leaves her and her kids, and they're about to lose the house, so she starts giving handjobs and whatnots. I don't think they ever expressly show/say if she is having sex with the men, they just show a montage of JLH in cutesie lingerie lubing up a bunch of different guys, all with washboard abs. All the guys like her because she gives them advice on their marriages (heh). As of yet, she's not on any drugs and she is on pretty good terms with her motherly madam and the other chicks at the massage parlor. She has a flirty relationship with her brother-in-law who is always hanging around her house playing with the kids and mowing the lawn shirtless, and there's an additional storyline where she's trying to find out where her husband is and if he left her for another woman or what. Oh, and Cybill Shepherd plays her mother in both the movie and the show.

This description is why the show is near perfect. I want more Cybill though. And I miss the broken down pick up truck and dashboard madonna figurine conversations. The brother-in-law is hot.

So from this past episode, it doesn't look like Riley is going to be going down the bad girl road of drugs and whoring that Sam did in the movie. And of course Riley has been immediately promoted to "manager" of the massage parlor, and of COURSE a guy would rather go back and have a PG-13 massage from Riley rather than get the full monty from evil Selena in a hotel room. You'd think Riley would be more worried about Selena, since she's obviously going to end up outing her to her family and friends or maybe getting the whole massage parlor busted. I can't see them doing that this early on in the show though, because where would it go after that?

Okay, watching last week's episode and one of the clients just said "shit." Does this mean they can FINALLY start showing some rear nudity from all the hot guys that JLH has to service? It's ridiculous that they're hiring all this eye candy and being all coy and yet showing JLH's boobs as much as possible.

madefortv, in the movie, is it implied that it is just handjobs or does she move to full-on sex when she gets hooked on drugs? I think the "extras" in the show are just handjobs.

I didn't see the movie but I've watched all of the shows so far. From the description of the movie, it sounds like the movie was kind of dark, but with the show, they're going with more of a romance-type show maybe? A romantic prostitution tale, like Pretty Woman.

I am loving all the man candy.
