They mumble something about being looked down on in the east if you don't have an "fancy education". Well, IME I'd have to agree with that. Oy.

Yes, I'm a total masochist (don't tell Mr. M). I watched last night. So Bristol, Willow and oh yeah, Sarah, head to CPAC in DC. They have a lovely conversation where the girls announce that they could never live on the east coast - LIBERALS (eye rolls and head nodding all around). They mumble something about being looked down on in the east if you don't have an "fancy education". Then Willow says that she's going to hair school - the best one in the country (and girl has some fug hair)! Somehow Syria comes up, and Willow says that she doesn't even know what "A SYRIA" IS - she's going to hair school! They also make fun of the Occupy Wall Street people because they're lazy and don't have jobs. AND - God is going to punish them for it anyway, so it's OK. Good job, Sarah. UGH! Seriously? I'd think this was a SNL skit about the Palins rather than the real thing- Except then I remember Tina Fey used direct quotes from Sarah P instead of having to write her own script so.... yeah. OY is right. Thank goodness I'm not watching this show. Stomach bile was never one of my favorite flavors.

Do you have a citation for this? I am interested in learning more. The "see Russia from my house" bit that Fey did on SNL was not a direct quote from Palin. It is, however, based on [blue]Palin's statement that parts of Russia are visible from parts of Alaska[/blue] (not her home specifically).

Just watch this (you can stop watching after about the 2 minute mark). And Tina Fey said in her book that Seth Meyers wrote the sketches, and he pulled many things verbatim from Palin's interviews.

The other "storyline" was about what a brat little Tripp is. You see, Bristol is such a sweet and caring mom that she can't raise her voice to her bratty kid (but she did muster up the energy to say that protesters make her sick). So we see the kid mouth off like crazy (and he can barely talk yet), while Bristol's new boyfriend plays daddy. And so does her own daddy. I'm not sure where they're going with that one - the importance of men in raising children? Family values!
Bristol also claims to have never cooked anything in her life - so off they go to shop so she can make a cake from scratch! Cut to her apartment (in the family house), and she's got an expensive pink mixer on the counter. Yeah, after we're done ragging on both coasts, little Miss Palin will just play happy homemaker. Oh, and she also goes out to buy her mother a pink gun.
I guess moving her back home helps get the whole family on the payroll?

Are these people for real, or are they creating a parody of themselves for the camera? Episodes like this make me believe Sara will never run for office again, each week creates so much fodder for her opponents.
And margojata, thanks for taking the bullet for the team. I can't bring myself to watch, but I relish having something to snark on.

Oh, I'm sure Sarah won't run for anything again. I don't think she really likes holding office-she just likes being in the spotlight . Now she can be in the spotlight with speaking engagements that don't involve running for office. She's a very attractive woman and knows it and likes people looking at her.

I'm turning into one of those weirdos who can't stop watching something they hate! Grr
They really are playing completely into what everyone thinks they are. They're smug, mean, judgmental, hateful, belittling, angry. And now they're throwing in stupid (not that it wasn't always there). Willow and her hair school (!!) education announcing out loud that she doesn't give a crap about A Syria. Add in some slamming of both CA and the entire east coast ... and there have only been a few episodes! What's next? Sarah and her new pink handgun shooting at an Obama target?

I bit the bullet and watched an episode which happened to be the one with Sarah and the girls in DC. When Syria came up and Willow made her comment about not knowing what a Syria was, instead of advising the girl to educate herself Sarah's only advice was to tell Willow to keep her ignorance on the down-low. Great parenting there, Sarah. On the matter, why the hell was she asking her obviously ignorant daughters for ideas for her op-ed on Syria? I don't think I can bring myself to watch any more of this. Bristol has never really bugged me in any way until she started going on about what a patriot her mom was, how Sarah will do anything for her country, then implied that people who don't support Sarah are somehow anti-American and the antithesis of St. Sarah. Then, stating that no one has been able to articulate the reasons why they don't like her mom? She's obviously not been speaking to the right people.
