I FLOVE Zodiac and have seen it probably ten times. From the opening shot and music, I was hooked. It's beautiful. I am so annoyingly evangelical about that movie in real life, pushing it on my family and friends. Mark Ruffalo is going to have to be filmed, like, kicking a kitten in order to undo the goodwill I have for his performance. /apologies for OT

Please feel free to share stories about how awesome Victor Garber, Zeljko Ivanek, Kyle Chandler, and Rory Cochrane are.

I saw this trailer and got goosebumps. I'm sooo ready for it. Love director Ben!
p.s. It also reminded me to put Dream On back in iPod rotation.

This was a perfect film. Everyone, go see it. Go. Go. Just came across this article posted on Reddit about the film's downplaying of Canada's involvement in the rescue. Comments on Reddit and the article itself are kinda...meh.

I saw it today and loved it! The audience I was with actually clapped at the end and I can't remember anyone ever clapping at the end of a movie here in jaded LA (unless it's a premiere, and that doesn't really count). Argo is funny, insightful, taut, suspenseful, well acted, and satisfying. Also... without giving anything away.... stay for the credits. I do want to ask a question though. John Goodman plays a makeup man, although he's the guy who puts the whole "film" together (kind of like a producer). He never does any makeup for the 6 American's stuck in Iran... and never even goes to Iran.... so the blonde in me is kind of confused as to why he was brought onto the project in the first place. Can a kind Greecie explain that to me? I'm actually really happy for Ben. I've liked all three of the films he's directed. I'm glad his career is back on track.

I was going to see this but I had read about the downplaying of the Canadian involvement in helping get these hostages out which in a way didn't surprise me. I wouldn't want to watch it if it seems like Canada did nothing at all.

I though they made it clear that Canada took them in when no one else would—and at great risk—but that's about it. They stuck with the action (largely the hostage experience, not the political one) and stated "based on a true story." I didn't go into it thinking it was going to be a reenactment.

Saw it today and was blown away by how good it was. As Minky said above, a nearly perfect film as far as storytelling. Just awesome. Loved the 70s perfect touches too. As someone who was 10 when the Iranian hostage crisis happened, the opening scene was both really compelling and really disturbing. Seeing those images again (yellow ribbons, the news footage) was more emotional than I thought it would be. As Affleck is in my age range, I imagine he must have similar memories of that time.
Lots of great performances.
I teared up at the end of this. And our audience clapped. I haven't enjoyed a movie that much in a long time. Soooo good. Affleck, you done good.
I also appreciated how the film reminds us that our relationship with Iran (and Iraq) are way more complicated than recent memory (or the media's) serves.

Blown away. Also, even though I knew what happened, the suspense was SO well done that I found myself wondering "what if they dont make it"? Great casting, performances, directing etc. I hope this wins some awards.
