I wish her well on her health journey, but I recently watched The Hustle, the movie she did w/ Anne Hathaway, and I'm officially over her 'dumb, sloppy, big girl' shtick. That whole movie was a big WTF but I held on to the bitter end hoping for it to get better. It did not. Maybe the weight loss will result in some better roles for her or she can break out of the typecasting. I stayed far away from Isn't It Romantic because it looked stupid. I'm all for larger actresses getting cast as romantic comedy leads, but so often it feels like they make her the butt of the joke, and that's not empowering or funny. That's what I was thinking - Now that she's lost weight, can she do something other than, like, fall over into a bowl of guacamole at parties in movies? Or whatever the hell was going on in "Cats"? That movie was terrible and her cat's segment was the worst. I saw "Isn't It Romantic" on a plane, so I wasn't paying that much attention, but I agree that it was pretty forgettable and fortunately, her weight was not the butt of the jokes, but she did have self-esteem issues that one could extrapolate into seeing her weight being connected to that. She's lost a good deal of weight, but she still looks like herself. It didn't completely transform her face like it did with Adele.

I think her agent told her at one point not to lose weight because she'd lose her niche. Maybe she realized she doesn't have much of a niche anyway.
Isn't it Romantic might have been less forgettable if they had gone full Ricki Lake/Gwyneth Paltrow Fatsuit and made it about her weight. It wouldn't have been good, but they made it so generic and inoffensive it wound up not being about anything at all.

Please tell me someone else is watching the US Open and saw Rebel randomly appear on the "friends and family" screen for Karolina Muchova, the player who took out Venus Williams.
The commentators said they're friends, but it was a really awkward moment as Karolina didn't seem to have much to say to her so Rebel was just mugging away in the background.
Also, while her face looked slimmer and a little different, she was wearing a gigantic sweatshirt that looked like it wouldn't have fit her in her heaviest days, so it didn't appear that she'd lost any weight at all, but I'm assuming that's down to fashion choice in this case.

The Daily Mail Has Got Photos She does look good, and the dog is cute too. Isn't It Romantic? was cute and non-offensive. It should have had more bite, but everything is pleasant about it. It actually probably is a good plane movie.

The dog looks like a stuffed toy. I can't believe she's 40.

After this weekend I have decided to really buckle down and get my own year of health started. Rebel has sort of been my inspiration.

I have experienced what she's talking about. I lost 50 pounds and was suddenly not invisible. It's a weird thing because you're kind of flattered and proud of the work you've done, but you're also pissed off on behalf of your old body. I am still the same person inside. It's also a little unsettling to get an increased amount of attention when you are not used to it.

I know the conventional wisdom is that people think about people pointing and laughing at people who are overweight, but it really is more like being invisible. And though Rebel says she feels more confident and maybe people are responding to that, I like that she pointed out that it happened with strangers too, so it wasn't just like people who know her are suddenly being more positive towards her because she is more positive, but people she doesn't know and have never encountered her before are obviously treating her differently as well. And it is super-weird when the amount of attention increases. At times I missed the invisible bubble I was in before.
