I've been binging on this show and The Closer lately. I've seeen every episode more than I can count. The funny, Christmas episodes kill me. Any of the episodes where Provenza and Flynn get into some kind of situation. I adore Julio.

I have all of The Closer on DVD and have seen all of Major Crimes. I love when a show is able to replace a major character and make it work, especially when the new character is radically different from the original. I do have to say that the inclusion of teenage prostitute boy (whose name is escaping me and I'm too lazy to look it up) kind of bugged me at first but they managed to turn him into a pretty complex character and his relationship with Mary McDonnell ended up being one of my favorites on the show. I loved all of the characters on the show and I did enjoy the fact the Major Crimes allowed us more insight into some of the lesser fleshed out characters. Tao remains my favorite simply because I'm also that annoying person who loves to bore her friends with all the minutiae she's accumulated over the years.

Rusty. At first I thought the Rusty character would be short-term, but it all worked out and he fleshes out the Sharon, Flynn, & Provenza characters too.
I love this show. I love all the actors.
**I did hate the DDA Gloria Rios character & was thrilled when DDA Hobbs came back!

Somewhere along the way all the characters got fleshed out in really fascinating and real ways. I love what they've done, and for me the show changed from 'fun backgroundy entertainment' to something I record and watch when I can pay attention. I could never take Rios seriously- wasn't she the one played by the same woman who was Catalina on My Name is Earl?

Raymond Cruz taped the pilot for the Sons of Anarchy spin-off, Mayans MC. Reports are if it gets picked up he'll be recurring. Somebody on my twitter feed retweeted some pics from the set, and he looks different - his hair is longer, which makes him look younger. He also looks like he's lost weight or he's been working out, or maybe it's just he's not dressed like Detective Sanchez. Kearran Giovanni tweeted she's back to Major Crimes on May 10, so I guess they start taping season 6 this week!

One more picture of Raymond with another actor from the Mayans MC pilot. Major Crimes needs more smiling Julio in Season 6, and I really want a Christmas episode this year.

And another recurring character for a longer story arch. Good ol' Karen Torres a.k.a. Lourdes Benedicto from the Dawson's Creek days. I've always wondered what became of her.
