Oh yeah, "Empire State of Mind" also made it to the radio. I forgot that one is Jay-Z (that song is not my thing). Sorry.
But I don't know what is confusing about what I said? I forgot about the above mentioned song, but just because they played "Run This Town" doesn't mean they played "N--- in Paris" in MN. At least, I never heard that song on the radio. Even though big radio is owned by a handful of conglomerates, that doesn't mean the playlist is the same in every market. They might have played it elsewhere, but it wasn't on rotation here, at least from my anecdotal experience.
They also edited out his raps in "Umbrella" and "Crazy in Love" when those songs were popular. So I never heard him on those either until I downloaded them/watched the videos.

It almost always is, though. It sounds like you're listening to HOT AC/Mainstream AC. They don't play hiphop or rap (even Macklemore) and use the rapless edited versions of songs. Maybe once or twice in their entire careers, an Eminem or Jay z song showed up for like a week, barely making the top 40 of that chart. Most of their airplay come from one or two stations that are renegades and will play the Crazy In Love with the rap in it and throw in Empire State of Mind, just because. But other than that, nope. I live in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virgina) area now. And we got every possible station out here. There are a couple of HOT AC stations. One of them loves to play TLC's Waterfalls, without the rap. We also have a few HOT AC Urban stations that are the same. No rap. So you get to hear Drunk In Love with just Beyonce.

We don't have HOT AC in Minneapolis, no. But that's the general idea. Only I'm talking about all the radio stations here -- including our NPR-related music station and the weird independent ones -- not just the big Clear Channel ones. It's a thing that people talk about here. We've even had large community forums trying to address it with certain local stations...

Yeah, I'm in Dallas and I've never heard N---s in Paris on the radio. They are playing a lot of Nicki Minaj right now though. Playlists definitely are not the same all across the country. When I listen to NYZ Z100 on my phone, I hear different songs than I do here on the radio.
I actually liked the Brits 'All Day' performance. Kanye says and does so many offensive things but I think he's very talented.

Here is Atlanta, we have a station devoted to old school rap. Talk about feeling old.
Speaking of, I heard Stronger on the radio the other day and realized how much I like that song.

OMG, celerydunk, my Uber driver the other day was playing that station and it was good. And I would never claim to ever having been a hip-hop fan but compared to the absolute shit now (I am the olds), it's an oasis. ETA: I forgot why I had come to this thread. Talk about ego judging ego. Pot calling kettle black.
