I searched thoroughly. Didn't find a thread. I hate finding myself in a postion where I have to post something nice about Kanye but Kanye says everybody chill with the homophobia and gay bashingWoah. I was really so stuck in my image of him as an arrogant asshat. Glad to hear he found it in him to change his outlook on things when he found out his cousin was gay.

Why was he an arrogant asshat? I knew nothing of the guy until I read that article on Friday about his speaking out against homophobia and then I made it a point to watch the "All Eyes on" episode over the weekend. Maybe I'm just a big sap but I actually felt really proud of him for what he said. It's not easy to go against societal norms and speak your mind like that. Who knows what the backlash will be? But at least he's being true to himself.

He won my heart with what he said about homophobia. I'm a fan for life now.

Before he came out and made these comments - which BTW are awesome - I considered him an arroagnt asshat. In the past he has said and done quite a few things to give me that opinion of him.
But if he can come out against homophobia in between declaring how great he is and stroking his own already bloated ego, I'm going to find it really hard to find Kanye annoying anymore.

I like Kanye. I always have. When listening to the radio (which I am forced to do sometimes) and the R&Bull or Hip-Crap stations are on, at least he is talking about something different. I mean, come on, he wrote a song in favor of Jesus that got played in a lot of nightclubs. That is so awesome to me. Plus that new song "Gold Diggers" is so true. Sad, but true.
Couldn't care less about his personal views, ego, etc. He gets a pass from me just because he has something new to say.
If he or any rapper REALLY wanted to impress me, they'd come out condemning the use of all the booty-shakin' skanks in the videos. It's been done to death guys, time to move on!

Love him. Like his music, and I am someone who hates today's rap music. I probably like him because he raps about other things besides Cristal, hos, and how much money he has. I always thought he was cool and these comments make him even cooler.

Me, too. I admire that he has a social concience and appears intelligent. Those qualities are very under -appreciated in mainstream entertainment. I loved that too. I think that when some people think about Jesus or faith they think of, like, doves and rainbows. That's kinda lame. He offered up a cooler, more realistic view of faith. I don't like the line about Kathy Lee needing Regis, though. I like to think that faith runs deeper than that.

DAMNIT, Kanye. Stop making me like you! I really like the anti-homophobia comments. I, too, thought he seemed a bit full of himself before, but I like him a lot now. I also love many of his songs for the sake of amusement, such as the "Gold Diggers" song. "18 years, 18 years, then on the 18th birthday, he found out it wasn't his?" *snerk* Well, perhaps "Kathy Lee needs sweatshop workers" would've been more appropriate.

Between Kanye's anti-homophobia comments, 50 Cent raggin' on Nelly's bling habits, and Eminem in rehab, it's been an awesome month for rap. The music industry needs to do some housecleaning.
