Soul the underlying message from what has been explained to me is that in places like sierra Leone people are killed and children are enslaved for the diamonds that are mined in that area, thus the reference to the "Blood Diamonds". I am guessing he is tryiong to send a message to his fellow rappers and members of the 'Bling' society, to know where your jewels come from and make sure you aren't giving money to the type of people who would kill and enslave to make the money. At least i hope this is his underlying message, but who knows because it was pointed out to me that Dumbass is driving thru the city in the video in a porche with the doors open like wings, so i can only hope in his own crazy ass pompus way he is trying to deliver a serious message and he is not exploiting a cause, or else i may retract my previous statement of doing good by making a cause known to the world.
Oh, turns out Suge was shot at his pre-VMA party.just a lil info that i picked up from CNN

Exactly. Ms Dynamite talking about diamonds from Sierra Leone and the wars in Africa over diamonds I pricked my ears up and listened and I had a lot of respect for her for using her music to spread the message. I didn't see her preaching against bling and superficial conspicuous spending and blantantly practising the opposite of what she was preaching.
Kanye? No. I don't take what he talks about seriously. His a big hypocrite. He's just trying to play at being "a conscious rapper" but it's not sincere. And it pisses me off when he gets thrown in my face as a "good example". He's a fake shallow arrogant idiot from what I can tell.
It's just that with Lil Jon et al on MTV and VH1 he just comes off as the lesser of two evils.

I don't like Kanye's personality, but I love his music. I've already downloaded most of "Late Registration," and I'll go get it from Best Buy when it comes out this week. His flow isn't the best. His beats aren't the most original. His topics aren't the most thought-provoking. He may not always make me "think," but he certainly makes me dance. When I'm truly entertained by an artist, all of the other stuff that I don't like about them falls by the wayside because I'm into the music. Kanye and his fellow Chicagoan R. Kelly both fall into that category for me. There's a lot of things I don't like about either one of them, but at the end of the day, they entertain me.

Yes he does come off as an ignorant, seflish, self-centred, self-involved, stupid, arrogant asswipe.
It does seem a bit disingenuous for him to claim he cares about issues when he seems to care about himself and his ego and the stroking of said ego a whole lot more.
The anti-homophobia comments took me by surprise. But then on second reading I noted that he said he was homophobic until he found out his family member was gay. So it wasn't just a spontaneuous realisation on his part it was wrong to hate or be afraid of gays. He had to have his cousin tell him he was gay and then he had to struggle to accept homosexuality because he wanted to be able to accept his cousin.
It's good that he didn't just do a 180 and reject his cousin for being gay. But why does he want props now for being "pro-gay" if it took that much to see that homophobia is just wrong period?
Does everyone need to have it happen in the family to just stop being abusive and judgemental towards gays. Like "if it's not happened in my family then I don't care and it's alright to have negative opinions until I find out my friend or my brother or my cousin is gay.....but until then it's alright to poke fun as long as it doesn't come back to me and my own"?
Granted he didn't have to come out and tell the world his cousin had come out as gay. And he didn't have to say what he did that other rappers and Americans in general should stop harbouring homophobic views and negative stereotypes about gays. But if it hadn't have been made a personal issue by it happening in the family would he care?
Or maybe we should just be grateful no matter what the cause or the motives that he was willing to speak out at all.
Much like with the diamonds. If he still wears them and does other non-productive things regarding the whole rappers and bling bling issue maybe it's not supposed to matter just as long as he does a song or two denouncing his lifestyle choices.

Does everyone need to have it happen in the family to just stop being abusive and judgemental towards gays. Everyone doesn't need it, but some people definitely do. Some people have to have it right there and have it smack them in the face before they get it. They might not ever get it otherwise. Kanye is one of those people. I watched the MTV "All Eyes On Kanye" episode where he made the comments, and I was surprised that he could even admit that he was homophobic. A lot of people can't even do that. Having a gay cousin in his family is what allowed Kanye to see the error of his ways. That's what some people need. We all take different paths to knowledge. I'm just glad he gets it now.

Speaking of which, I'm at home packing boxes today and decide to watch a lil TV. Of course Kanye is everywhere promoting his album. Before I get to the good part of his interview on TRL, I've gotta say Word on your description of Kanye. He came off as such an asswart.
So anyway, at the end of the interview the host asks Kanye about the Suge shooting and the altercation and continuing fued between king-kong (aka fiddy and Fat ass Joe) that took place at his party. Kanye, went totally ballistic. I mean he lost it. He started plugging his album and then looked dead into the cameras and said in a pissed to the hilt tone (I'm paraphrasing) "I told y'all don't ask me that kind of stuff . . . don't play wit me . . . .
I could.not. believe.it! After that he continued to plug his new album while complaining/bragging (like he did last night at the MTV Awards) that he spent $2.6 million of his own money to produce his album his way and told the fans he needed them to buy X amount of albums to recoup his losses. Apparently, Roc a Fella wasn't willing to front the paper to pay for the orchestra he wanted heard on one of his songs.
And here I thought he dissed JayZ last night . . . . . I'm starting to think Kanye ain't cocky, but mentally light as a feather.

Kanye snarks on chicks who only go after a guy for his money? Wake me up when he snarks on guys who will only be seen with girls who look like video hos (or, you know, fill up their videos with said hoochie mamas).

Word batmom.
The complaints about women being goldiggers when the said complainers only date women who look like models or are models and go around trying to impress people and entice the said models they want to be dating with their money. When two shallow people collide I think it's fair on both sides and neither one has the right to be the pot calling foul on the kettle.
The "goldiggers" would not be messing with their fugly old ignorant acting asses if they didn't have no bucks. And they would not be interested in those ditzy, dumb hoes if they didn't have good body and some good hair.

I usually don't use this word, but freaking WORD, batmom and AirbrushedHottie. I came here to post about the hypocrisy of Golddigger, but you both said it much better than I could.
And I'm surprised at the people giving Kanye a pass because of his new "acceptance" of homosexuality. As mentioned upthread, it's hard to have a lot of respect for someone who can only embrace homosexuality as a mechanism to accept their family member.
And it's hard for me to believe his sincerity when on the most recent episode of Wild N' Out, Kanye made some gay-related disses during the freestyle battle. It was bleeped out and therefore no way to know 100%. But I am highly confident, based on the phrasing around it, that a couple of Kanye's disses included the word "faggot" and other gay-related rhyming. I'm not sure if this possibly was filmed before his announcement about his cousin, but I don't think someone has embraced homosexuality who uses it in a derogatory manner to put someone else down.
I absolutely loathe this man and hate everything he's put out. I thought I'd seen the epitome of ego with Usher, but Kanye puts even him to shame when it comes to bigheadedness.

I cannot believe I am defending this guy but I dont think he is complaining about golddiggers exactly. I have this song stuck in my head and listened to it several times on a long car trip.
One of the lines in the song is about how people are telling him that shes a gold digger and shes got a baby by Busta, used to fuck with Usher but he doesnt care cause he loves her. I take the song to mean that everyone is telling him this girl is a gold digger. I mean he is kinda making fun, but not on JayZ's level or anything. And I am overanalyzing this song way too much.
That being said the Jamie Foxx part annoys me. Cause he is clearly stealing Ray Charles act. Just cause he won an award for playing Ray does mean he is Ray.
