I'm not 100% convinced Chilton is dead yet. If he is I'm going to miss Raul Esparza, he was awesome in the role. They are definitely not afraid to deviate from the books though. I kinda wonder if Jack actually makes it out of his fight with Hannibal now...
I usually don't nitpick the plot for this show, I think of it like an opera, it doesn't need to be too realistic. But I do question Hannibal framing Chilton as the Ripper and everyone seemingly believing it. Wasn't Chilton disembolwed before Abigail was killed? He would have been in the hospital or recovery during the time that he allegedly murdered Abigal and was framing Will. I hope that is a thread that is picked up in upcoming episodes. Anna Chulmsky was also amazing last night. I love her on Veep and she is so different on that.
I can't even with Alana, I can't wait until she finds out the truth.

I think this death was only implied in the books. For some reason, Spoiler until the other day I thought he was the one who was fed his own brain, but that was Paul Krendler. I'm really confused about Will's endgame though. Like, I'm glad he's all in control and everything, but Spoiler going to have dinner at Hannibal's seems like something you don't do on purpose after you figure out he's a cannibal . I mean that's just me.

Oh, I assumed Jack was a goner based on his wound but hey, I'd love for Crawford to stick around too.
Clearly the show asks for suspension of disbelief but when the hell did Hannibal--by himself?--find time to set up Chilton so elaborately? Has he been out of town? I also never thought the gang would honestly think Chilton was that smart or crazy to have a surgery room in what, his wine cellar? I've never lingered on how Hannibal gets his meals or gets rid of scraps, but this, again, was a stretch for me.
I'm glad Will is back on track. I also love Chlumsky, I'm so glad she's acting again & on her terms. She's hilarious on Veep & super weird/creepy here. A bit of me still mourns Beverly.

He would have been in the hospital or recovery during the time that he allegedly murdered Abigal and was framing Will. I may be giving Jack & co. entirely too much credit, but I actually think it made sense to make a big show of arresting Chilton. If they don't arrest him after multiple bodies are found in his house, that would pretty definitively tip off Hannibal that the frame job didn't work. I actually hope that's the reason, because otherwise yes, the issue of Chilton having a solid alibi for at least two of the Ripper killings is a pretty serious hole. I agree with you that there's some room for ambiguity on his death. If Chilton does come back to be Hannibal's warden during the SotL season, can you imagine how epic that will be?? It is going to suck if we don't get to see Raul Esparza play that. Although, I actually wonder if Alana Bloom will be moved into that role if they don't bring Chilton back. As frustrated with her as I am now, I think that could actually be a pretty interesting way to develop her character.

And to get a little CSI for a minute...although there was a lot of blood, Chilton was shot in the face, so it *could* be nonfatal (dammit though, first his guts, now this?). If he's alive I'd retire somewhere far away & never look back. I see a lot of fallout with Alana once Hannibal is arrested (this season? next?).

Wow... It is like Bryan Fuller sat down one day and said to himself, "you know, I really dig 'Equus', but it isn't weird enough..."

Holy shit. That was the most straight up nasty episode ever. It made the mushrooms episode look like wholesome family entertainment. It was strangely beautiful at a lot of points, though. I have to admit I laughed uncontrollably at the line << Spoiler "Is your social worker inside that horse?" >> It made sense in context but still. Hugh Dancy really killed it this episode.

I know he's a psycho, serial killing cannibal, but that sex scene with Alana was hot. And beautifully shot.

I was accidentally spoiled about the horse but it made it no less horrifying. I both liked and was grossed out by the sex scene (run Alana, RUN!).

I learned my lesson and stopped eating during the show, but watching the social worker crawl out of the horse really pressed on my gag reflex. There is usually something grotesque and beautiful in the murder(s) of the week, but this week my hair was standing on end when that live bird flew out of the victim's chest cavity.
