I think I read somewhere that Zack Quinto is coming back in a later episode. Another flashback I presume. I was happy to see Eddie Izzard again too. Although I am completely turned off escargots now.
One of the critics who has seen the first few episodes said there is a scene in the next episode that is the most gory thing he has ever see on this show. Considering all, the disgusting stuff they have done in the first two seasons that is frightening.
I thought the episode was beautiful too but I have to admit I'm looking forward to seeing more Will. And I'm really looking forward to red dragon in the second half of this season.

Loved this episode - the look, the music, Bedelia's "Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?" outfit. The cannibal/sexual humour humour was on point. And poor Dimmond..gone too soon and it wasn't that kind of dinner

I had to watch again to catch some nuances. ZQ will be back via flashbacks (I initially wondered if that was some sort of hallucination). I liked the toying with b&w during the most gruesome parts... I didn't need to see Izzard's "leg" set in a thyme glaze, thanks. Is his character canon, anyone know? I'm most familiar with the reporter, Michael Pitt's character & Red Dragon.

Gorgeous season opener!
Poor Dimmond, he didn't even get a threesome before he was killed.
You just know if Will was there it TOTALLY would have been that kind of party! At least in Hannibal's head.

Gorgeous season opener! Poor Dimmond, he didn't even get a threesome before he was killed. You just know if Will was there it TOTALLY would have been that kind of party! At least in Hannibal's head. Heh. Yes, if Will had ever shown (or ever will) any interest in that regard, Hannibal would totally be DTF. Someone mentioned that a bit of Hannibal's sexiness is gone because he's open with Scully about what he is and he isn't as mysterious. I agree. I mean, Mads could still totally get it, but there was something about the way he played everything close to the vest. I need to watch again because I had other stuff going on and I need to figure out Dr. Scully. Is she completely hopelessly trapped, or does a small part of her get off on this? But mostly I can't wait until Will is back in the game. Hannibal loves him, but that was one nasty breakup. What will win out - his anger/sadness over Will not bring his dream boyfriend and the nasty breakup, or does he still love Will more and still wants him as a playmate/partner/family?

I think Bedelia was getting off on it until she was confronted with the idea of being seasoned up as an entree herself. I was also curious, was their relationship sexual last season? I'm never quite sure with this show.
I'm about to rewatch S2 on Prime just to see that fight again. Remember how crazy that was last year--thinking there would be a huge build-up & instead they were swinging straight out the gate? Ah, memories.

She's getting off on it. She can call Interpol at any time, leave at any time (as long as Hannibal isn't around and she did try), obviously has free rein to spend her day walking around the city as she likes. At the end of the day she comes back to her (very lavish) apartment with Hannibal. Hannibal's hold over her is that she's fascinated with him and she's not an innocent observer, she's an accomplice and participant especially since she knew what he was all along. It's highly unlikely she'll get a second offer of immunity.
Though she now knows she's in waaaay over her head and has to handle Hannibal very carefully. She walks around wearing distinct clothes, nods at the policeman, orders the same thing each time at that boutique, sits at the train station and deliberately looks at the security camera...she's making herself memorable and leaving deliberate clues to those hunting Hannibal that she's there and if she's there Hannibal is there too.

Looks like I have the UO of being underwhelmed and rather annoyed. If I want to see stylized imagery I can watch music videos. How many times are they going to show the mix of blood and water in slow motion? I don't know. Maybe this show just isn't for me anymore. I'm hoping the story gets going next week. I also would like to hear the medical explanation for Will surviving (if indeed that's the case) after appearing to be bleeding to death the last time we saw him.

I still love it, but watching S2 back-to-back, all the usual stuff that I enjoy--the loud clanging music, the blood imagery, the stag appearances--are all very in your face. It's probably not something I'd tell people to binge.

It's fever-dream television cranked up to 11.
Producer Bryan Fuller says the next ep will be even more "pretentious" (his word). Heh. Also, they're going to do one of the most gruesome things they've ever done.
