Well this one sucked, but I guess I had it coming. I have not been a Will Smith fan for a while as his movies of late have not been my cup of tea. I went out with the same friends who talked me into The Big Wedding and I got what I deserved. No more will I listen to their recommendations. This is just a boring, long, stilted (dialogue wise) flaccid effort. Apparently Will Smith wrote it. I don't know if that means he really wrote it or just got writing credit. Either way, I would not lay claim. It seemed to have a movie of the week flavor to it that made me think that I was watching a straight to video fare. Also M Night Shamylan (sp) was the director, and his name was not even mentioned in any of the trailers I saw. To be honest if I had been part of this I would not have wanted my name on it either. Jaden - his son in the movie and in real life - did not shine here. His method of acting seemed to be more along the line of "smell the fart' variety to quote an old Friends episode. He just made faces and scowled. This is too bad because I actually liked him in the Karate Kid. Smith does most of the movie from a reclining position anyway so if you wanted to see him in an action flick, this is not the one you want to go to. I don't know but it just seemed second rate and not much fun.

Will Smith only has a "story by..." credit. It was written by Shyamalan and Gary Whitta, who wrote "The Book of Eli". You'd think Smith could have gotten a more prestigious and experienced screenwriter than Whitta.

He even laughed it off (I think on Leno?). No one wants to see your frowning, constantly passing-out son running for two hours, while you nod off and basically do nothing in a chair. I read somewhere that the alternate ending was that WS was dead the whole time but test audiences disliked it; I think it would've been a much better ending.
