Man, it's like I barely noticed her for the first decade of her career, except to mock her laughably bad performance in that Earthquake movie, but with her multiple commercials and these public relationships, she's turned into a Grade A famewhore this summer. I wonder what happened? New management. New promotional deals. She's got Priceline and Toyota. She's filming a movie. I think she decided she had tolled in anonymity long enough and she wants to be the new Jennifer Aniston/Katherine Heigl. Got to raise her profile if she wants people to look at her and see her in their new rom coms.

Man, it's like I barely noticed her for the first decade of her career, except to mock her laughably bad performance in that Earthquake movie, but with her multiple commercials and these public relationships, she's turned into a Grade A famewhore this summer. I wonder what happened? I did read somewhere that she ended the Cavill relationship because she did not want all that publicity - she'd always avoided it before, and it freaked her out when it happened. I can kind of believe that, because suddenly she was being photographed constantly, and 90% of the time she was in sweats and looking really grubby - not like someone who was expecting or wanting to be photographed. It is puzzling. Maybe the paps smelled fresh blood? Star of a hit TV show, multiple commercials...equals sellable pics? Plus lord knows if I spent the last few years bouncing between Lohan and Kardashians, I'd want something new to photograph. ETA: New management. That was my other thought. didn't know about the movie, so makes double sense. I was thinking it also had to do with the other biological clock for actresses ...the quickly approaching 30s!

I agree, Witchie. Big Bang won't last forever and she's preparing for the next phase of her career.

Well apparently she earns $350k per episode and they (she, Johnny & Jim) are angling for a raise to $500k an episode. Plus I'm sure I read they get a cut of the residuals. So financially she's doing ok. But like most people who start on TV she's probably angling to jump go movies and the big time.
She sure seems keen on showing off the new bf so I have a hard time believing the attention she got when she was with Cavill was unwanted.

Yeah. I was just going to ask when Big Bang is ending. That show has been on forever, and unlike other shows that have been on forever, it seems like people who don't watch it aren't aware of it or it's stars.

The show is just starting Season 7 and could easily go to 10 seasons, maybe more. It hasn't dipped in quality yet and I don't think any of its stars are in danger of leaving before the end. It is strange that the actors are not really famous outside of the context of the show, even though the show is incredibly popular in the ratings & in syndication.

I don't watch religiously, but I do enjoy the show. Unfortunately, I think they will be typecast into these characters long after this show ends. I don't watch religiously, but I do enjoy the show. Residuals work much differently for cable then they do for broadcast. All sag actors are supposed to get residuals, but when the show is repeated in syndication on a cable channel, it is much less.

I actually think she has the most potential of the BBT cast to move on to other things--yeah, she's typecast, but she's typecast as a bubbly, friendly, girl-next-door blonde and there are worse things. I don't mind her and I love rom-coms, so if she becomes the next attempt at a rom-com queen I'm okay with that.

I didn't watch 8 Simple Rules much but I always thought her TV sister had the talent in the kids, and that Kaley was just a lesser Christina Applegate type. Guess I was wrong. The ratings for Big Bang Theory were higher than ever so far this season, weren't they? Those "nerds" will be getting that pay raise.

Your assessment of her talent was probably correct. I don't think she's very talented. She's very likeable and warm, so she's perfect as Penny, but beyond that, nah. She probably has the best chance of landing her own sitcom after BBT. Jim Parsons will go back to Broadway and have a long career there. The others I think will stay working here and there, mostly on TV.
