I went to see this one with friends. I was surprised that it was not more heavily attended. The movie was OK. You really cannot go wrong with the talent they had in the film to begin with.
The only major star wasted was Robert DeNiro who played one of his typical tough guy - mugging for the camera role - roles.
There are worse ways to spend a night at the movies, but in truth they gave away the best jokes in the trailers.
The surprise for me was Mary Steenburgen playing a lounge singer with a heart of gold. She was the best of the lot in this.
The story could have gone semi-raunchy with 4 great actors or kind of had a coming to realize life's frailties sort of show. Either one would have sufficed, however the director chose to go with both here and in the end each story kind of robs the other part by not giving the movie its full due.
I was expecting better, but still laughed some.
PS: I forgot to say that the reason I generally like movies of this sort is after all of these years I finally got a chance to visit Vegas 2.5 years ago. I have since sat through some stinkers (Miss Congeniality 2, 3000 Miles to Graceland & Harley Davidson & the Marlboro Man) just because I could say, "I know where that is!"
This movie was shot with the express purpose of including the fewest Vegas landmarks possible with the exception of The Aria Hotel where it was shot and Binnions downtown. That was it people outside of those two it could have been anywhere.
