Oooh, exciting! The production team for this sounds promising. Mia Wasikowska or the title role? I thought of her too! I could also see Carey Mulligan, Michelle Williams, or Elizabeth Olsen as Rosemary. (Or maybe I'm just thinking of people who'd rock the pixie cut... ) Those have all got to be really obvious choices, but maybe that's not a bad thing since any of them would probably do a great job.

Did anybody else watch part one? What did you think?

I've never seen the original so I have nothing to compare this to, but I actually liked it. All the signs are there about being up in a cult but I can't say that if I were in their shoes that I wouldn't brush those fears aside.

I thought it was a lot better than the reviews I read said, although the Castavets might just as well have hung a sign saying, "We're Satanists". The original was nowhere near that obvious. I also miss Ruth Gordon. She was the best part o the original. Mia Farrow sure as hell wasn't. I like Zoe Saldana much better. I'm interested to see what part two holds n store--if it's like the original (and the book).

So that was anti-climactic. Is the ending of the mini-series the same ending as the book and film? I think the mini-series was well done, Zoe Saldana was fabulous in it! She was definitely the strength of it, not sure how I felt over all about the mini-series. Having watched all of it, I think it could have been condensed and the ending sucked for me. Yeah, i know I complain when movies/books always end in a happy ending, but though that baby was gorgeous, I really wish she killed it, like by jumping out the window or something (and I can't believe I just typed that I wish she killed the baby). And now that I think about it, I really wish they didn't show us the baby. The baby was adorable and I could see why she chose to raise him instead of kill him, but maybe it was one of those things they should have left up to the viewers imagination? Like maybe they show Zoe's character seeing the baby and all we see is her reaction? I don't know. I know my imagination could have come up with a better satan baby. Just saying.
The other doctor Rosemary saw, not the one in the cult, but the other one, was gorgeous! Anyone know his name?

I thought the cameo with Beyonce and Blue Ivy in the last scene was awesome! The original film ending was different. I didn't read the book. There are enough differences between this version and the original to make it worth seeing the original too (despite Polanski, and really, it's his creepiness that probably made it work). The original movie was better IMO because of the time period with the way women were treated then. Rosemary's journey was more interesting to watch unfold.

I didn't like this. I think this whole story is sexist crap and I'm not surprised it was written by a man.
What bugs me is in the end, Rosemary sees her baby, and Satan is the father, I mean fucking Satan! And she's like, "Oh shit, my breasts are full, I think I'll nurse him." Because see, all of us women get emotional and can't do what's right when it comes to babies. It's like some male chauvinist wrote this book and said, "see, this why women can't be president; they're too emotional!"
I think it would have been a kick ass ending if Rosemary grabbed the baby and jumped from the balcony. Now THAT would have made sense. But what happens is that Rosemary completely loses her mind, doesn't give a shit that her best friend was killed, that other people have been killed by these fuckers she's like; "Baby...baby....baby." It just irked me.

They SHOWED the baby? Oh no no no! That's why the original movie so cool - people walked out of the moving THINKING they saw the baby but they never did.
I could not get into this AT ALL... probably because I LOVE the original. They changed the old satanists - who were a creepy, crazy twist. And it's really hard to translate this into the prenatal testing/ultrasound age.
