TTMR & I liked it. I liked Ralph Fiennes (whom I can usually take or leave as an actor), and we laughed out loud at several parts.

Finally saw it! I liked it. It felt like a departure for Wes Anderson. Like, a lot of his classic shots and style was there, but he shook up his formula and didn't fall back on some of his tricks like I felt he did his past couple movies (Moonrise Kingdom, Darjeeling Unlimited). It was gorgeous to look at.
Oh, and my friend had no idea who the narrator was in the flashback until he asked me, hah. Why didn't they cast the young and old Zero to be the same race? Or at least in the same ballpark?
Also, the story takes place in Eastern Europe, but most characters either have British or American accents, which at times struck me as odd. If you're going to set something in Eastern Europe, then you have an opportunity to have some really cool accents in there.

And since the country was fictional, it's not like there was a real accent they could anyway.

I genuinely LOVED this movie. I still prefer Moonrise Kingdom but this was hilarious. I loved the visuals of the big strong prisoners going for the bars, the ridiculously fast ski race, and just the whole look of the film. It was beautiful.
I'll be honest, I'm not a Wes Anderson fan girl. I found The Royal Tennenbaums to be boring, I liked Rushmore and Bottle Rocket but didn't LOVE them so somehow he's found his groove with me in the later films. The gun fight was hilarious, there was genuine suspense in the museum chase (and everyone was shocked at the ending of that), and there was a lot of sweetness between Agatha and Zero.

I loved it too. Just precious. And I adored the use of miniatures, it was perfect for the look of the film. I was so happy that {Spoiler}Agatha didn't die as a result of the events of the film, if that makes sense. It's sad that she eventually did pass away, but there were so many hints that she'd wind up being killed in the battle for the painting and so many near-misses .

I agree that the cameos were too short. I enjoyed it, but I much preferred Moonrise Kingdom, and no Wes Anderson movie has ever come close to usurping my affection for The Life Aquatic and The Royal Tenenbaums.

I usually either love or hate Anderson movies (TRT, I loathed; Rushmore I loved) and this falls in the love category for me. Beautifully shot, skillfully acted and very funny.

Finally saw this online. Somewhere David Niven is smiling.
