I think its a combination of the lights, not being out during the winter, and makeup. As a fellow indian, my skin is also usually several shades lighter during the colder winter months.

Apparently Mindy ain't having it.  Her brother claims to have no idea why Mindy would use the word "estranged" to describe their relationship. (Auto-play video at the source, thanks HuffPo).

The younger brother of the "The Mindy Project" showrunner recently sparked a media frenzy after publicly admitting that he posed as an African American to gain entry to medical school. He writes of the experience in a forthcoming memoir, which his sister thinks "will bring shame on the family," he told HuffPost.

"I wish she was supporting me on this," he said, referring to the impending book, "but I'm willing to go forward without her support."

This one stings a bit. I hate when AA policies are targeted like this, because it reinforces some people's belief that the only way black people can get accepted is because of their blackness, and this is something that was said to me many times in college and my early career. Nevermind that I believe I read elsewhere that everything else on the application was truthful, including that he is a child of doctors, which could have affected the school's decision as much or more than being "black." Kind of like being a legacy or child of big donors counts as much or more that minority status at most colleges, but no one ever tells those people they don't deserve to be there.
