I don't know how this'll go in the long term, but I'm really enjoying the premise right now. Anyone else watching? Lots of people of color and interesting women. At first I thought the pilot had too much going on, but in retrospect, it set things up quickly and now they can dive in to the meatier part of the arc. A ton of eye candy do. Right now the weakest links are Bassam's family; just not sure where they fit in yet. I'd like to see a few more flashbacks. Right now it's a favorite new summer-run show (What did I do before these? Oh right, I went out and saw the sun, lol).

So glad you started this thread. With no more TWoP I am hoping this forum picks up more with specific show threads.
I like this show. Don't love it, but I find the premise interesting. Agree with you about Barry's American family. One of the biggest complaints I've read about the show is how clueless they all seem to be about his country. They all seem a bit clueless as to what goes on there, they were all so excited to be there. Eh, I can live with it.
One thing that stands out as a "yeah right" moment is the nephew, whose wedding brought Bassam home. Two really good looking parents and that's their kid? He looks like a whiny lump of something. You'd think he would be a hothead like his father and resent his uncle now coming home and taking a larger role in the running of the country.

The nephew is a total schlub, but I took his looks to mean that like his father, he enjoys the good life. Unlike his dad, though, his good life is strictly food and PS3 related.
