I’m not really a fan of saying you need to find another place for your cat to live- that you made a commitment to take care of into old age when adopted- because you’re probably having a kid in some vague, future, maybe time period.

I don't follow Chris that closely, but I believe in recent years he has posted instagrams about his hunting projects, and about animals he is raising (he has a ranch or something?) that will ultimately be slaughtered for food. Unlike the cat incident, in which he seemed unprepared for a zillion twitter followers to come at him about how horrible he was for re-homing a pet, he seems to be posting these things intentionally, knowing that it will be controversial. I think he views himself as educating people on responsible hunting (whatever the opposite of canned hunts are) and how it's possible to be an animal lover at the same time. I'm a little wary of that hunting stuff, and like I said I don't follow him that closely, but I have yet to find a reason to really condemn him. I’m not really a fan of saying you need to find another place for your cat to live- that you made a commitment to take care of into old age when adopted- because you’re probably having a kid in some vague, future, maybe time period. Like I said, I've been in the situation of having to deal with a very old, incontinent cat. His constant (4-5 times per week) peeing on the furniture caused thousands of dollars of damage and wrecked the living room sofa which was the only place my terminally-ill father could be comfortable. It was a big deal. And many options were considered and none of them were great. Most people would agree that successful re-homing to somebody better equipped to handle it is preferable to euthanizing. Chris and Anna's situation doesn't sound quite as bad, but none of us lived in their house so we can't truly know. Handling cat feces *is* dangerous to pregnant women. A successful re-home of a cat is not cruel, and I agreed with Chris's clapback that sometimes these days people put way too much relative value on the comfort of cats over the lives of humans.

danadel, I definitely agree, and to be honest, I'm not sure of the outcome of the saga of the cat but I suppose I would rather believe that Chris P made a social media error than any other version of the truth.
That said, I think the people who know they're in their pets' lives for the long haul are going to make the right decisions, and people who choose to give up their elderpets are probably not going to be guilted into making good choices for an interspecies household. I also think there's a grey area that should be discussed (but it's not relevant here).

I have no problem with hunting (for meat), as I’m a meat eater, but the cat story does make him seem like an ass. Surely he and Anna had the resources to figure something out there.
I find Chris’s gradual dive into evangelicalism to be really interesting. I’ve read speculation that he may end up in politics, but I don’t know if I can see that. I’ve also been reading a lot about that Hillsong Church that he, Katherine, and so many other celebs are into. They’re anti-gay (with a history of supporting conversion therapy) and one of their founders (the grandfather of the current popular pastor) molested a 7-year-old.

The Hillsong that Bieber is into?! I thought Pratt was just your run of the mill evangelical, Hillsong seems more like a cult. I'm glad I never watched Parks and Rec so I have no fond associations with him.

There are various rumors and blind items that do make Hillsong sound like a cult, including some particularly unsavory ones about the leaders supplying wealthy/celeb male members with young females which they call “worship companions.” Also, Pastor Carl, with his Terry Richardson glasses, gives me the creeps.

I am really surprised her democrat mother is fine with this engagement and the fact she belongs to a church that has anti Gay views. Worrisome.

Actually, Maria also attends Hillsong and it’s reportedly where she first became friendly with Chris and subsequently set him up with her daughter. So... yeah. She’s supposedly thrilled over the engagement and finding such a “catch” for Katherine.

Chris has also said he attends Zoe Church. I looked at their website, and couldn't find a statement of belief or faith or whatever. I clicked "About" like a reasonable person and got a contact form.
