Did they have a scene reenacting the confession the way Gracepoint did? Cause on Gracepoint they clearly showed that Tom was involved in that scene.

They did. No Tom in sight.
ETA: there was also no "Tom is missing" storyline. Where he went to (what in retrospect looks like) try to plant evidence on his mom's main suspect. Also, I feel like the American Tom was way more shifty and angry in general. But that could have been the actor

I can see how that would be annoying. I wonder what the timeline is for these shows. It seems that they rewrote history a bit in order to create a second season for Broadchurch by adding in the secondary Tom storyline, but decided to keep Gracepoint one season and so wrapped up the whole thing then and there with Tom shown to have been at the murder scene. Well, it looks like I'm MORE than caught up with Broadchurch in that case. Talk about spoilers! But it's still worth watching for the trial. It's interesting to see how the whole process works in another country.

I don't know, I'm still not convinced that Tom is involved in the Broadchurch side of the pond. I think Joe is just an ass who's going to try and use holes in the investigation and inside info on his wife to get himself off the hook.
