Good for him! I haven't watched Attack the Block (yet) but I hear great things about it, and him in general. He's the next big thing. Unfortunately, since the teaser trailer came out, some racist filth has permeated the ether, and he slightly acknowledged it on IG.

Oh racist fanboys! Yoda would not approve. See his speech in The Phantom Menace about the dangers of hatred.
The big "I'm not racist but..." argument is that John Boyega can't be playing a stormtrooper because they are white. Ok, first of all we never saw what was behind the masks in the original trilogy. No information was ever given about them. The only thing we knew is they worked for the Empire and were therefore THE BAD GUYS. For all we knew, they could have been alien beings from Endor. Then, when the prequels came out, we found out their back story! They're clones! And they are played by Temuera Morrison and he is Maori! In other words, he isn't white. Hey, Palpatine was evil but he was apparently an equal opportunity employer. Finally, this film is being set at least 30 years after the events of The Return of the Jedi. I have no idea why stormtroopers are still around (one would think the people would want to rid themselves of all symbols of the oppressive empire) but I think it's safe to say their recruiting practices might have changed during those 30 years.
Back to John Boyega. I've never heard of him but I'm looking forward to seeing his work in The Fore Awakens. I'll have to check out Attack the Block.

Do we even know if his character is actually a stormtrooper, or maybe is he someone disguised as a stormtrooper?
Oh, who cares. The assholes of the world will still find a way to have a racist freak out, not unlike the Harry Potter fans who freaked over Harry's first love interest being played by an Asian actress despite the character being named Cho Chang (which should have been a big effin' clue as to what she may look like).
All the same, Boyega's response is perfect. So far he's handling it like a champ.

kostgard, do you want to know what the internet has ferreted out about his character? {Spoiler} {Spoiler}He is a stormtrooper, but he abandons the Empire to work with Han & Leia's daughter, the young woman dressed like Leia from Return of the Jedi, and the X-wing pilot, who supposedly is the new owner of the Falcon. They are the new hero trio. On a friend's page, I saw a comment from someone who follows him that asked "There were black stormtroopers?" I couldn't believe it. Not for the subtle racism, but for the fact, my friend has a multiracial family and hates bigots. I'm sure that comment went over like a lead balloon.

Has the Klan gone digital and decided to re-focus their energy on trolling sci-fi franchises? Everytime somebody black gets a role in a franchise that isn't Fast & Furious people get super racist. Was Billy Dee Williams met with scorn during the original trilogy?

I loved him in Attack the Block - he was amazing in that movie. There is a point near the end where his character Moses has to do something very brave, and it's the kind of scene where you realize you are leaning towards the screen and holding your breath and hoping against hope for him. He really sold that role and made me a fan of his. I am super excited to see him in The Force Awakens!
I feel so badly about the racist crap he has to put up with though - I too think he handled it well.
