Attack the Block is absolutely fantastic -- do check it out. I'm not a fan of the Star Wars franchise, but I'm glad Boyega has landed a role in the new film.

Ok, I'm not a huge Star Wars fan and I found the "new" ones (1-3) a bit confusing but I thought the storm troopers were a cloned army that came from Boba Fett's father, who was dark skinned but looked nothing like Mr. Boyega.
That being said, I'm sure there were non-clones added later on.
Back on topic - I've never seen John in anything but I hope he doesn't get stuck as "the Star Wars guy" like Mark Hamill or Carrie Fisher. See also: Christensen, Hayden.

Yep, you are right about the stormtroppers origins! But yeah it makes to think eventually the Empire branched out and non-clones were used. I have no idea about Hayden Christensen but Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher haven't done bad post Star Wars. They just went in new directions. Mark Hamill is a very respected voice actor. Carrie Fisher is an author and for many years worked as a script doctor. Both also maintain a good sense of humor about their Star Wars roles which more than you can about Harrison Ford.

I am definitely not a Star Wars fan, but John Boyega is making me think I might go to the movies.

SW: Force Awakens trading cards reveal his character's name as Finn. Oscar Issac is Poe Dameron. Daisy Ridley is Rey (no last name or is her last name a famous one?). Light saber dude is Kylo Ren. DM

Subject of a nice long profile in the Guardian. I must say he comes off really well. Although the trailers underwhelm me, I hope Pacific Rim 2 works out for him (especially since I think he was underutilized in the The Last Jedi). I first noticed him in 24: Live Another Day. He played an American serviceman framed for something terrible, and made it one of those super-memorable minor roles.

Giant effing spoiler for The Last Jedi in that article, be forewarned.
ETA: My husband just laughed at this post for like ten hours and said, "It comes out on video TOMORROW. Everyone has seen it but you."

Thank you Mutagen but it sounds like this one’s on me for waiting for it to come to the cheap theater!

Finally watched Detroit
Considering the subject matter, I almost feel guilty for finding him absolutely gorgeous.
