MURDER! The new ABC limited series stars Ryan Phillipe and Juliette Lewis as prime suspect and cop, respectively, in a murder mystery about a dead child. I'm already assuming he's having an affair with one of the neighborhood ladies. It looks intriguing. Anyone else? ABC Website

I watched the double episode that aired on Sunday... I had a few too many moments of wanting to yell "HAVEN'T YOU EVER SEEN LAW AND ORDER???" at Ryan Philippe's character to completely enjoy it, but it wasn't bad.
Over on Previously TV a lot of people were complaining about how unlikeable Juliette Lewis' character was, but um... I thought that was the point of the character, and in that regard she did an excellent job.

I know! But people really do get intimidated and let the police walk all over them. There's a still a societal stigma attached to asking for a lawyer and skilled interrogators know how to use that, among other things, against people.
From watching the previews, I thought we were supposed to wonder whether Ryan Philippe? As of now, it looks like he's innocent without even a hint of guilt. Did I miss something?

The original Australian version is on Netflix. It's only 6 episodes, instead of 10. I'd watch that instead.....

Oh no. I just started a "financial diet" and cut out Netflix. Must. Not. Make. Excuses. To cheat. (bolded for my own benefit). I'm going to stick with the American version.

Ryan Phillipe is just so ridiculously good looking that it's distracting. He's barely aged since Cruel Intentions.

I have mixed feelings about the finale. I have a feeling that if I were to go back and rewatch the season things wouldn't add up. On the other hand, it's possible I was blinded by the sweetness of the relationship between dad and his monkey considering others apparently called it a while ago. I guess it doesn't really matter because the killer reveal creates an excellent storyline for season 2. A 12-year-old sociopath and Ryan Phillipe brooding in prison. Awesome!

Didn't you see the webisodes for Secrets and Lies Highondegrassi?
This is a one-off. Ryan's character is dead, and the new season will focus on a completely different family. (I'll show myself out)

I'm so confused. There was a preview with him and his family in it. So I guess the preview was for the webisodes then? No 12-year-old murderous psychopath on the loose with a brand new hair-down loosened up Detective Juliette Lewis on her trail? I'm bummed. I never bother with webisodes or online TV stuff because I assume it's just extra time-consuming things I don't really need to know about. Apparently not. Well, I'm off to watch a webisode for the first time ever. I see Juliette Lewis is the only return castmember. Ugh. Her detective-robot shtick got old fast. If season 2 is any good, just like with season 1, it won't be because of her.
ETA: Watched the webisode. All 4-1/2 freakin minutes of it. Really? They couldn't just include that in the regular episode? It was strongly implied but not crystal clear that Ben is dead. Maybe there's a slight chance Ryan Phillipe will come back. I don't get it. I saw Abby the psychokiller and her parents slowly getting a clue while Cornell hunted her down as a good continuation of the story.

He signed a one year deal, and they're going after new people for season 2. Juliette was the only one to sign a multi-year deal. Sorry......
