I thought it was strange in the webisode that they didn't flat-out say Ben was dead (and how--suicide? yelling at the wrong inmate?). There really was no point in being coy--not to mention it's a cheap ploy to make people go online to see the conclusion of a 10-part miniseries (which is essentially what it was).

I am so confused. How do we know Ben is dead? And if I hadn't come here I wouldn't have even known there was a webisode
"wrap up"... I don't watch extras online either, typically. Good grief. I was wondering why there were previews but no show? I also didn't know they were going True Detective with the cast. Just dangle Ryan Phillippe out there like a carrot for one season? Sigh.

New case and cast member revealed:

Michael Ealy is Secrets & Lies‘ new leading man. Coming off a villainous turn on Fox’s The Following, Ealy has signed on to star opposite Juliette Lewis on the second season of ABC’s anthology crime drama series Secrets & Lies. Lewis is the only cast member from Season 1, which starred Ryan Philippe, to return, with her’ unflappable Detective Andrea Cornell taking on a brand new case, this time involving Eric Warner (Ealy) and the investigation into his wife’s murder.

Smart, well-educated and hard working, Warner is at the top of his game — he’s the heir apparent to his family’s private equity firm in Charlotte, NC, newly married to “the one” and walking on air. Eric is attending a party to honor dad passing over the reins when suddenly tragedy strikes — his wife Kate is murdered, and life, as he knows it, is over.

O’Quinn will play Eric’s father, John Warner, a charming and lovable finance magnate and the adoring father of three children. He built his Charlotte private equity firm on a model of honesty and morality and has achieved great success. Now, ready to retire, he’s passing the reins on to his heir apparent and eldest son, Eric (Ealy). However, when the party celebrating Eric’s promotion results in the murder of his wife Kate, John’s plans are abruptly put on hold, as he attempts to lead his family and his company through this shocking tragedy.

Just watched, and yes, Michael Ealy sure is easy on the eyes. The first ep of this new murder definitely intrigued me.
