Hi everyone,
This is generally a very laid-back forum, but we do have our rules. They are fair and simple, and you are all required to follow them if you wish to remain an active member here.
Your forum administrators are Oxynia, Brookie, Sunnyhorse and Yossarian, with an occasional guest appearance by our board founder, Moldy Tofu.
Admins are noted by the red stars in their mini profiles. If you have questions or comments about the board that you wish to discuss privately, PM any one of us.
In order to maintain your posting privileges, you need to adhere to the following rules.
RESPECT
We are guided by the principles of common courtesy, and expect you to be, too.
You need to show respect to your fellow Greecies, even (and especially) when you disagree with them. We snark on celebrities, politicians and the like, but we do not snark on each other.
We also welcome healthy debates on any topic, but ask that you respect the differing opinions that exist here when voicing your own.
If you have an issue with another Greecie, then take it to PM (either with them directly or via an admin). Do not air your grievances out on the board.
The All About Us section of the board is reserved for members only. Anything discussed there is intended to remain there. While there are lots of other forums out there on the web (and we don't care where else you post), you need to respect your fellow Greecies who share their private issues with the rest of us. Don't take that information beyond this board.
POSTING PROTOCOLS
You are responsible for the look and content of your individual posts.
The official language of our board is English. We have a spellcheck tool in place which recognizes only Americanized English, but we accept Commonwealth spelling here. Please ensure you are otherwise spelling correctly by using this useful tool before publishing your post.
You need to use the pre-set font and size, and not alter the look of your post's typeface.
Use regular sentence structure and don't post in all-caps as this is considered shouting.
Use regular paragraph structure as it is difficult for people to read huge blocks of text.
Use only single line spacing between paragraphs, and no line spacing after quotes. Multiple line spacing within posts eats up bandwidth and is prohibited here.
Scroll through the prior month's worth of posts in a topic to ensure that any public "news" or headline you wish to announce has not already been introduced to the forum.
There are formatting keys in the nav bar of the typing area for bolding or italicizing words for emphasis. Do not post all in bold as this is reserved for admin warnings.
There are also function keys for inserting links, spoiler tags, quoting other posters, etc. They are simple to use but PM an admin if you get confused.
You are responsible for the accuracy of your links. Mods will not clean up after you. Test your links when posting and correct them accordingly.
When you post links, reference their subject matter in your post. We don't allow click bait here, like just saying "You won't believe this!" or other provocative statements to encourage clicks on your links.
We may delete posts that do not comply with our linking protocols, at the discretion of forum administrators.
You may use our pre-set smilies or upload your own. However, any smilies you add to your profile need to be of similar size to the board's smilies to maintain proper pagination.
Spoiler tags are reserved for feature films in their first cinematic run. We do not use spoiler tags for TV shows, books, etc. The spoiler tag is the last "smilie" to the right of the typing area nav bar with a finger in front of the lips.
We do not allow URLs to be posted in-line as they screw up the pagination of the board. We also do not allow in-line photos. You need to link to them using the appropriate function key in the typing area nav bar.
Do not double-post in any thread unless it is one in which live chatting is allowed by a moderator. If you have something to add to your previous post, edit it instead. The only exception is if it's been more than a month since that thread has been active.
While we have no issue with profanity, there are certain extreme words that aren't OK with us. If you post something and notice a word in your post has been replaced with ****, then it means you've typed something that's not allowed. You do not have the option of re-spelling it another way, or putting spaces between the letters, or doing anything else to circumvent the board's censor. It's considered trolling, and you will be warned.
You may open a new thread that is relevant to that sub-theme of the board. However, it is your responsibility to first do a thorough search of the board to ensure that such a thread does not already exist. There is a Search button in the main navigation bar of the board that has simplified this process. Laziness is not an excuse for duplicating threads.
ADMINISTRATIVE
In your profile settings, you have several options for customizations.
You can upload your own avatar (following the size limits set by the board), however do not use excessively animated images as they cause distraction on the board. Also, make sure your avatar does not contain offensive language or images.
You could also customize your avatar using the ProBoards "avatar maker", available in your profile settings area.
Our default board colors are a subtle blend of pinks and mauves, in keeping with the board's original scheme. You have the option of choosing alternative colors for your viewing of the board, available in your profile settings area.
Like most boards, we have several ranks based on the volume of posts you have contributed to the board. The more you post, the higher your rank.
Member rankings are based on post counts as follows:
Valet 25
Lady in Waiting 100
Landed Gentry 500
Blueblood 1,000
Sloane Ranger 2,000
Country Squire 3,000
Kate’s Shiny, Shiny Hair 5,000
Queen’s Corgi 7,500
Camilla’s Feed Bag 10,000
Crown Princess Gwyneth 15,000
Nasty Woman 16,000
Occasionally, admins need to step in and issue a warning, both within threads and as a PM to individuals. We don't like doing it, but it's the only way to keep problems from escalating.
If there is a mod warning in a thread, it is your responsibility to heed it. Ignoring it will result in a personal warning to you.
If you end up with more than two personal warnings, you will be banned from the forum. We hate having to resort to such measures, but it keeps this place happy and humming for everyone else.
That's it. We think these guidelines are simply good manners as much as anything else. If you have any questions on anything here, PM an admin.
Thanks.
