Was watching a man yell at a child supposed to be funny? I don't blame Jasper for leaving - nobody seems to pay him the slightest attention anyway.

Yup. The only way to salvage it is to follow a different group of survivors. Maybe Jasper will run into a new group, come back to rescue Dawn and the twins, and start a new life.
