I want to watch a 'making of' documentary, because I have NO idea how they filmed some of those sequences (even if they did have Cirque du Soleil performing many of the stunts). Bravo to everyone involved with the film.

Wow. What a stunning film! Such an imaginative visual feast, as well as a kick-ass action flick. So many little details and a sense of urgency throughout. It was also a pretty thoughtful take on humanity. Not sure I would live through another viewing.

Echoing everyone else, I really dug it too. I have to admit I found the whole style a little grotesque for my taste at first. Some of the acting was not great. Tom Hardy did not stand out for me at all. But Charlize Theron and the older desert women were awesome. But I was probably most impressed by Nicholas Hoult. I thought his character was going to be one note at the beginning but he ended up having the most interesting transformation. And the last half hour was crazy! I would definitely watch a sequel.

This thread should be longer with praises. Best action movie I have seen. It's amazing that the title character is not exactly the main character.
I don't quite understand why Nicholas Hoult's character had a change of heart. Also, why did the other clan leaders (I don't know what to call them) join forces? Because of the fuel?

It was a really good movie. I liked that the women saved themselves with an assist from Max.
I think Hoult's character became disillusioned. 3 times he tried to sacrifice himself and three times he failed. Riley Keough gave him hope and when he realized that the only way to save them was to sacrifice himself, he finally felt worthy of Valhalla. I guess.

Great effects. I definitely got a whiff of Cirque de Soleil types in some scenes. The men in charge were so f'ing grotesque! Amazing that this was all filmed in sequence, as well.
One question: Cheedo, the one who tried to go back--was that second time earnest, or a way to distract the War Boys ultimately? Some of the stuff moved too fast for me to take in.
eta: Tom Hardy was basically eye candy. His role seemed 1/2 The Drop, 1/2 Bane from TDKR. At one point I thought, "Wow, his lines must've been cool to memorize."

I thought Cheedo was faking it the 2nd time around. Just to get the War Boys to drop their guard. It worked.

I enjoyed it but I didn't love it. Charlize and Nicholas were my favorites parts of this but I couldn't get past what was wonky post-apoc timeline to me. Still tremendous action eye-candy.

The stunt work is spectacular, and it has that real world non CGI heaviness to it, from using practical special effects and not a computer. Just saw the movie last night and the theatre was still nearly full. Like others have said, this may be one of the best action movies I've seen. Thoroughly enjoyed the working relationship that developed between Max & Furiosa. Especially loved that he deferred to her superior skills. For fans of "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries", one of the older ladies on the motorbikes and I think one of the few survivors of the return trip was in the Season 1 episode "Blood and Circuses". She played Elsie and spent most of the episode in the jail. Her son was Mathias the Ghoul.
