I LOVED IT! Nothing will ever compare to the first one, but I think I can safely say that it's better than #2 and #3. Even with the lack of Goldblum. The final action sequence was totally amazeballs. Agreed, the final sequence was great. I never thought I could get that emotional over a velociraptor (I would watch a whole movie about Owen and his raptors). Loved how they brought the T.rex in, too. Hell, I'd watch a whole series about Owen and the raptors. And I loved everything about what they did with the T. rex. Especially {Spoiler}the final scene when she's surveying the island and she's all "Alright bitches, I'm in charge now!"

I looooooooooooooved it. Loved all the little throwbacks too, like that little DNA cartoon, the flare scene, etc.
I was 8 when I watched Jurassic Park and clearly still have very fond memories, so I kind of think an 8 year old would be OK. I will admit that I've definitely had a scary raptor dream in my adult years.

Thank you for the feedback. Mr. G thought they might be fine because they've seen the later Star Wars episodes and weren't traumatized by those but I think they are too young for this. A boy in my daughter's Kindergarten class shared the other day that he saw it and it "was insane!" so I was curious to hear what others thought.

Loved it! Lots of callbacks to the original movie and it conveniently ignores the middle installments. Now I want a dinosaur petting zoo as well. Those kids riding the baby triceratops! Cuteness overload!

The OG movie is in my top 30 movies of all time. I could watch everyday and not get tired of it. I want to see this one, but I also am afraid I might hate it. For me, nothing can be the original.

This movie just made over a half a billion dollars worldwide this weekend, first movie in history to do that. Wow, Pratt is a mega star now and everyone likes dinosaurs.

Do I dare admit I was disappointed? I thought the editing was terrible.
It was daylight, then all of a sudden NIGHT. Vincent D'Onofrino's character was from one end of the park to another. Seemed like some stuff was cut with BD Wong's character. I have more whining but need to figure out the spoiler thingie first.

I'm with pathtaken. I wanted more. Everyone was so cliche. I guess because I've spent all weekend watching the movies this one kinda felt flat. It picked up in the end, but I got more emotional over Blue, Charlie, Delta and Echo than any of the humans.

Well I guess the gauntlet has been thrown down to Star Wars now.

I'm mostly with pathtaken and Witchie on this one. I wasn't disappointed, exactly, because I didn't have too many expectations going in. But the one dimensional human characters bored me, and the 'Oh this woman only cares about her career! She's not paying enough attention to her family! Or even thinking about starting one! For shame!' undercurrent actively pissed me off. Plus a lot of stuff looked too CGI-fakey and took me out of the moment.
That said, I LOVED all the big ass bad ass dinosaurs, esp. the SPOILER MotherF*ckin' T-REX!!!! and the wily velociraptors. I could have watched a whole movie with nothing but the dinos going at it. But honestly whenever the humans were talking I was bored bored BORED! And wouldn't have minded them all getting eaten.
I have this embarrassing thing whenever I watch the first movie where everytime I see the scene with the kids trapped in the disabled jeep getting attacked by the T-Rex, I burst out sobbing. Every! Single! Time! I obviously know they're going to be all right, but it gets me every time. It gets me because it was such an effectively executed and genuinely scary scene. But also, the poor imperiled kids! They thought they were safe because they trusted their grandpa, and then everything went wrong and the one grown-up with them abandoned them and they had no way of knowing if the other grown-ups would or could help them and good gravy I'm getting misty eyed just typing up the description of their utter helplessness. It's pathetic, on my part... but kudos forever to the film-makers and actors for bringing that all to life.
This film. Yeah, no big spoilers. But there were a pair of imperiled kids. And I LAUGHED the whole time they were imperiled!
I mean SPOILER: It was like watching a dog demolish its chew toy... that just happened to have some tiny humans inside it. I didn't laugh at SPOILER: The poor woman who got tossed and dunked repeatedly by the pterodactyl. That was some mean-spirited overkill. What did she do to deserve that? The big bad guy wanting to exploit the dinos for military purposes didn't get that violent a death. Sheez!
But overall, the Dinos were awesome, but the story had no soul, and it obviously did not have the same emotional resonance of the first one. Not for me anyway. I was sometimes sad over imperiled dinosaurs, but not imperiled humans. Still, entertained for an afternoon. I doubt I'd ever feel the need to watch it ever again. Except for the very last scenes.
