A friend turned me on to the Andrew Lloyd Webber appearances awhile ago, but I only recently checked out full episodes on Netflix. This show is brilliant! The parodies are so spot-on, the references, the call-backs, the one-offs... it is just so tightly produced. I love Scott and Reggie equally, but it looks like Kid Cudi will be replacing Reggie next season as Reggie is now the bandleader on The Late Late Show. Obviously, I'm out of the loop on this, but the show seems sort of under the radar. (It comes on IFC and I literally don't even know what channel that is.) The first season had kind of mid-level guests and then there was a massive spike in name guests during the second season. The third season's guests were noticeably less glittering, so I'm not sure what that says about how the show is doing. That being said, the bigger name guests aren't necessarily the most interesting. Sometimes the guests don't really fit the format too well, even when they have comedy backgrounds. I'm not sure how the show is put together, but it seems like a few tightly scripted pieces surrounding some improv sketches. It's hard to say what's what, though, because sometimes, even the pieces that seem improv will have elaborate set pieces and special effects involved. Anybody else into this?

My brother is big into this show and I've caught episodes now and then. I've always liked it when I watched it. I seem to remember Amy Poehler being really funny.

Yeah. It's kind of hit or miss for me, but I mostly like it. I think it was a popular podcast before becoming a TV show, so it has a built in following. The guest appearances the first couple seasons kind of blew the minds of people reviewing the program, from what I remember. I like Reggie, so I am going to miss him.

Yeah, it was a podcast first. Even if you weren't 100% sure of that, it's obvious that the show probably existed in some format before the IFC version because it was too fully realized from the first episodes. There wasn't a learning curve where it progressively got better or the format was played around with.
I liked Amy Poehler's episode. I was actually surprised that the show wasn't produced by Broadway video because so many SNL currents and alums pass through.
