IMDB PageFrom the bestseller by Stephen King, and produced by James Franco and J J Abrams, comes this time travel tale of a man who goes back to 1960, in order to stop the Kennedy Assassination, and create a better future. But time does NOT like to be changed. The book is long, but IMO, one of his absolute best, up there with The Stand, The Shining and Misery. A really good love story, an homage to a not that long ago, but very different America, and a minor follow up to events from It. James Franco would not be my first choice for the lead (Costner in the 90's. Maybe Eckhart? Gyllenhaal?) It's airing on HULU. I really really really hope they got this one right.

I watched the first ep yesterday. Given that I just reread the book about six months ago, I'm very tuned into all the changes--some of which I'm not crazy about so far. But Franco is doing a good job and they're getting the vibe of the time frame right.

Do you have to pay for Hulu to see this?

The writer Bridget Carpenter, who also wrote for Friday Night Lights, Dead Like Me and Parenthood said to watch the opening credits closely, as they will change with each episode.

All 8 episodes are up now. I had a lot--A LOT--of issues with the changes that were made from the book, but the last episode was pretty great and true to the book. I didn't cry quite as much as I did with the book, but tears were shed during the last scene.

I watched this all without reading the book. Hated it, I realize. Is Sadie really better off in life marrying a homicidal maniac and staying with him? Lee's strange accent bothered me so much.

I watched this, but really didn't enjoy it. I read the book, but I had a lot of issues with the book too. I think in some ways the series did a good job of trimming a lot of the fat and excess from the book. But the stuff it did keep and the stuff it added in that wasn't in the book meant it was still a mostly dull, draggy mess. I hung in there because I was curious to see how the series handled what the world wound up being after he saved Kennedy- but that scene wound up being pretty dull too.
