I'm actually not surprised that they split, I'm surprised that they lasted as long as they did. He said in an interview once that he married her because she was who he was with when he thought he was at the age where he should be married. That to me said that their marriage was doomed. It is a shame though, particularly for their kids.

He has said he is bipolar and difficult to live with. There have also been blind items about him being abusive and enforcing an extreme diet on her. I figure the blind items must have been exaggerated or untrue since they were able to last this long, but I am definitely in the "not surprised" camp.

AND this douche filed in California so he could get community property, even though she moved to Rhode Island for him and anyone who has been vaguely paying attention to them knows that they lived in Rhode Island. Michelle filed her papers in Rhode Island and he dodged the process server delivering the papers 10 times. Meanwhile, they were renovating a house in Newport, RI that is about ready to move into - and he's had an air mattress and suitcases labeled "Pell" delivered there to stake his claim on it.

Ok, that is one of those things that you might think, but anyone who is halfway decent, let alone a celebrity whose words are printed and aired places, keeps to themselves! How insensitive. If I was Christine and I read that, I'd just be like-wtf? How romantic.

I was actually pleasantly surprised that they were still married, because I've never heard anything about Ben other than he is a huge asshole and she always seemed so sweet. I know she's not Meryl Streep, but I always liked her in things I saw her in and I always suspected that Ben made her put her career on hold except when she was in his projects. Hopefully she can find some happiness AND work in the future.
