Hidden Figures is an upcoming 2016 biographical comedy-drama film directed by Theodore Melfi from a screenplay co-written with Allison Schroeder, based on the nonfiction book of the same name by Margot Lee Shetterly. The film stars Taraji P. Henson as Katherine Johnson, the African American physicist, space scientist, and mathematician who calculated flight trajectories for Project Mercury and the 1969 Apollo 11 flight to the Moon. The film also features Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe, Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, and Jim Parsons.

Principal photography began in early March 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia. The film will be released on December 25, 2016, by Fox 2000 Pictures.

VERY excited. Living in the Rocket City with a NASA center, we are surrounded by NASA and their people. My husband started his career at NASA. We once figured out that almost every volunteer baseball coach 1.0 has ever had worked for NASA. Occasionally I get to go over to Marshall for my job and I can't explain the atmosphere - it is always a tangible feeling of hope and innovation. This is going to be a popular movie here.

Saw the preview for this with Rogue One tonight. I was afraid the preview would be the high point of the evening (it wasn't).
