I really liked the twist - I was wondering how they'd keep up the premise over time and now I know. It also makes quite a few things that made me go "Really? That doesn't seem like something that should happen." make total sense.

I hadn't really seen Ted Danson in anything since Cheers and had forgotten how utterly charming he is.

I've loved this show all season and I really liked the twist because it actually made sense and explained something that had been bugging me all season (the fact that it seemed like you had to be next door to a saint to be in the good place, but no one there seemed especially good. Tahani, in particular, bugged me because all her good deeds were so clearly self-serving and her existence there never made sense to me). I was close to figuring out the twist around the same time as Eleanor (again, because it makes sense. But I wasn't sure if there was just something up with Michael or something up with the whole thing). Also, doesn't this twist kinda make Eleanor one of the better people there? (because she at least owns all her problems? Chidi seems to be the exception. His problems are due to his neuroses, not because he's a jerk).
I really hope it gets renewed. I like all the main characters, and since Janet gains more knowledge with each reboot, I want to see what else she's picked up.

Tahani was always bragging about all the good she'd done and all the famous people she knew, and I had a hard time believing she really belonged there. I was thinking that it would turn out that everyone in the neighborhood was there by mistake, but the real twist is even better.

Yeah the other residents who we only saw briefly were all kind of jerky too. I remember thinking when Eleanor was apologizing to them at the party they were being awfully unforgiving for supposedly being the best of humanity. Still I didn't put it together. Really, the clown art should've been the first clue.
Ted Danson did a great heel turn but I will miss the sweet befuddled Michael.
I want to rewatch it all to see if there are other clues. Kristen Bell said she knew about the twist from the start so it was all planned from the beginning.

Really, the clown art should've been the first clue. Yes, it retrospect it should have been clear that there's no way a "good place" would include a terrifying clown house.

I thought it was hilarious that everyone referred to Eleanor as Fake Eleanor once Real Eleanor arrived.

One other thing that bugged me - did Eleanor's actions right before her death in the flashback seem vaguely suicidal to anyone else? She spent over $100 at the grocery store, but that included only one bottle of booze and one bottle of margarita mix. The rest was chips and cookies. I know Eleanor was a jerk who didn't care about anyone else, but it had an air of her not caring about anything anymore. I could be reading too much into it, but I really thought we were going to learn that Eleanor was on a bender and wanted to die and that was going to be something of a surprise twist. It's probably nothing, but I wonder if we'll get more about her life if there is another season.

The sloppy clothes and her overall appearance made it seem like she'd given up and wasn't really taking care of herself. She'd been on her own for so long and had basically pushed everyone away so I wonder if it had all caught up to her at that point. And as far as I can remember we haven't seen how Tahani died. We've seen Chidi, Jason, and Eleanor's deaths but not hers yet. I'm really curious about that now.

I thought the twist was forking brilliant. I knew something was off, but I didn't guess the truth.
