I don't think either quite captured their representative, but I think that just could be the idiosyncrasy of Bette and Joan as singular movie stars. No one else really was like them.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this. That EW link has a 55 year old spoiler about the Academy Awards, but that is going to so deliciously entertaining. I can already tell I'm going to binge this again after watching it weekly. Loving it!

Caught up on episode 2 yesterday and I think Sarandon started to capture BD more--even with the voice. I was listening to a Vulture podcast last week and they were complaining about the facts being skewed in this, but, tbh, I don't really care. I'm entertained and that's all I really want. Not like I'm going to start every convo in real life with "did you know Joan Crawford (fill in the blank from something in this show)...?"

I would love to see something similar about Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons.

There is a TV Movie from the late 80's called Malice in Wonderland, about Louella and Hedda, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Jane Alexander. The two of them elevate the material, but it's still entertaining. A Feud type season would be a lot of fun. Imagine the casting!

I recorded Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? the other day when TCM played it, and divaspawn1 and I are going to bingewatch the series after we watch the movie. I've been watching the series as it airs, but it definitely holds up to repeat watching.
Ds1 reports that her gay posse has been trying to get a bingewatch party going, though, so I suspect she'll end up watching with them instead. Maybe I can go as her date...

Watching Hush Hush, Sweet Charlotte in preparation for next week's episode, I had no idea it earned 7 Oscar nominations. That's impressive, especially since watching the film was Grand Guignol at it's finest. Talk about over and under acting!
I wonder if Ryan would dare choose to present Feud: Eric vs. Julia, since I've never heard what drove them apart.

I think this was one of the saddest finales I have ever watched.

Same here. Throughout the series I switched my sympathies so many times between Bette and Joan. But that finale gutted me. Just so well done and so very sad.

I have no desire to see Charles and Diana. They were jammed down my throats since I was a teenager, and I have no sympathy for Charles.
