Is there any feeling as to whether the weekend's events are going to have an effect on the UK election on Thursday? War/terror attacks tend to help the Republicans in the US, will it help the Tories? I keep seeing stories that their lead over Labour is shrinking. I've also seen things that indicate that May's attempted relationship with the idiot in our White House isn't doing her any favors, especially since he decided to attack Sadiq Khan on Twitter.

Does Mayor Khan have bigger political aspirations, I wonder? I saw something online today that said that, if Trump keeps attacking him, Khan will get popular enough to be the next PM. |

Does Mayor Khan have bigger political aspirations, I wonder? In keeping with my mood of cynicism and being skeptical of everyone who puts themself forward on a ballot sheet I'd say don't they all have bigger aspirations? |

Thanks, jenm and fitz--that was the feeling I had as I read through the news. There was a tepid, "yay, social progress I guess," with a much louder, "but what about policy?" I saw a cartoon/comic on an Irish paper last week that had Theresa May asking Leo Varadkar how long he had been out, and he answered, "oh, I've always been Tory." Yeah the Waterford Whispers News (our version of The Onion) had an article about Ireland's first openly classist Taoiseach. Fitz - I don't think you're too cynical at all unfortunately! |

UK election day today, I wonder what lies ahead, Tories but not by the landslide Theresa May and the polls thought it would when she called the snap election 50days ago, Lobour by a hair or something else entirely!!! Who knows?!
Confession time ...I went to bed when remain were just about ahead of brexit 1am approxish probably, Hilary was just about ahead when I went to bed that night/morning in November, I need to work tomorrow I need to sleep but look what happened when I did the last times....helps ;-)
