Not 100% sure but I think a leadership contest first within the Tory Party itself, various members put themselves forward there is a party vote and someone wins who can I think call an election if they are confident enough of the popular vote to get a mandate for thier policy it’s not necessary I don’t think I just clears the way for new PM and their plans and not playing from previous PM/Leader playbook This is what Boris is clinging too that he has the mandate/ vote of the people not his ministers. Mind you I’m seeing Active The Queen tweets so maybe she can throw them all in the tower and start from scratch and put Larry the Cat in charge... 46th resignation  at Sky News having the resignation count top left corner of screen! Edit Thursday Boris resigning as Tory leader but to remain as caretaker PM until autumn or new leader but they have summers soon.... 59 resignations now. |

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been shot while campaigning. From what I have heard he was shot in the chest. It doesn't look good.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been shot while campaigning. From what I have heard he was shot in the chest. It doesn't look good. CW: gun violence Unfortunately, he died.I'm shocked about the use of a firearm (allegedly, the suspect made the gun), I don't here much about gun violence in Japan. I'm from the United States, so firearm deaths are more American that apple pie (which is British). Since I'm also a statistics nerd: Here's a map, the numbers are from 2019. |

My recollection is that it's traditional for the Queen to ennoble the outgoing/retiring Prime Minister, at least with a title that enables him to be called "Sir". (Margaret Thatcher became Baroness Thatcher.) Do you think Elizabeth will continue the tradition, or say "We think not."?
