I have been waiting for this one. BRING THEM ALL DOWN!!! THIS has been a recurring sentiment in my head for the past month. ALL OF THEM! God fucking dammit!!!! By the time the smoke clears, there won't be any shows created by men that I can enjoy anymore. I get what you're saying (because I am never watching Gossip Girl again, never finding out what happens to Claire in the last few seasons in HOC) but at the same time, I realized that if I was a victim, I would be so disappointed seeing this as a common internet response! I don't know if this makes any sense but I feel like they're kind of related: I see movies like Breakfast at Tiffany's being touted as a classic and it boggles my mind how anyone now can watch it without being offended by the Japanese depiction of her neighbor. I was born and grew up in America but I don't understand the nostalgic element in a lot of movies because that's not my lived history, nor was it reflected in my parents' photographs. (I haven't watched Stranger Things, but that's what it kind of seems like to me--nostalgic about a period of time that I only experienced in other movies.) There are a lot of supposed classics that were 95% great otherwise but I don't feel the same sense of loss when a classic gets 'taken away' because current events caught up to how horrible actors/directors were. We are truly living in the best period for amazing movies and shows with different types of stories and diverse casts, I really believe it! Things like Mad Men had great production value, so even if the show gets ruined, the bar that was set so highly due to the talented behind-the-scenes people and actors will still get passed on to the next great thing. Everyone can move on to working in a safe environment so they could all put in 110% of their abilities rather than hiding from their abusers -- we could get even get better quality overall if we removed the toxic directors and producers and actors and less Transformers movies. Both Anthony and Matthew Weiners need to stop thinking with their weiners.

With all the sexual harassing, how does anyone get stuff done?? Between harassing, jerking off, covering it up/lying/making excuses, how do you get any of your actual work done? I realize that the time management of sexual harassers is not what is important here, but it's bothering me. Do bad people have better time management skills? Do they not sleep? Maybe their job isn't regular 9-5 so doing horrible things fit into their schedules better? To get back on topic, this is all just shitty and sad.

Harvey Weinstein obviously managed to get a lot done - not only boost the careers of some but allegedly organize smear campaigns to destroy the careers of others. ETA:I thought you were talking about Anthony Weiner at first!

I'm going to guess with these big guys, there's a lot of delegating that goes on. Like some intern or underpaid lacky did the majority of the real grunt work while Mr. Weinstien was "in a meeting". Lots and lots of "meetings"

Diana Nyad, the swimmer wrote a really moving article about being abused by her swim coach when she was a teen. She is nearly 70 and she says she is still not compeltely healed. This is something that really resonated with me. All these victims that are speaking up. Its great that their voices are being heard and some of the men are finally being punished. But it is something that they are going to carry with them for the rest of their lives. Speaking of abuse in the sports world, Aly Raisman has said she was abused by that gymnastics doctor too. She'll be giving an interview on 60s Minutes. He has been accused by something like over 100 athletes. It is sickening that USA Gymnastics did nothing for so long.

Having trouble linking from my phone, but Ellen Page just called out Brett Ratner and it was beautiful.

Anthony Edwards, of Top Gun and ER fame, has made a statement that he was abused for years when he was a child actor by a producer who is also a friend of Bryan Singer.

I hate Jason Bateman's statement regarding Balazs that "his actions were dealt with at the time". Spitting at somebody means molestation has been dealt with? I hope there is something missing from that story that they aren't sharing.
I'm not saying Amanda or Jason were under any obligation to do something other than what they did. But a man puffing out his chest and getting in another man's face for touching his woman is so old-fashioned. Saying it was "dealt with" implies that a stern talking-to from a man will keep pervs in line.
