LOL, I think I was too young at the time to notice bad acting.
I have probably forgotten 90% of the original series, but what sticks with me most are Murphy's exasperated freakouts. She always looked sharp and I bought that she was a high-powered reporter.
Murphy 2.0 looks very much to me like a post-retirement person who has been out of the game for a long time.

Now tomorrow morning, I'll breakfast in bed, and then get straight up into the tweeds.

Olivia de Haviland was the same way. She couldn't walk and talk at the same time in Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte.

I mentioned above that I didn't really become a fan of Ms. Bergen until Boston Legal. It may (in hindsight) be because she was a bit of a stiff.
Perhaps it's a conscious decision on her part to try and play Murphy the same way now?

Okay, Mr. d and I watched the Thanksgiving episode together last night, and we both apparently still have something in our eye this morning...
Not saying this is redemption, but they did a great job of putting a human face on what I'm sure many think of as a abstract situation.

I like CB as a person but she’s never been much of an actor. She was in a few films in the ‘70s and... no. I really wanted to like this reboot and I do like the Trump slams. But mainly I’m just remembering that I wanted to like the original too and just never got into that either - because of the acting.
