Too bad this thread is so small, but here's something to warm your heart..
During last year's NBA conference finals between the Toronto Raptors and the Milwaukee Bucks, one Bucks fan wrote a racist tweet against Raptors' superfan Nav Bhatia.
Nav Bhatia, who is an Indian immigrant, came to Canada in the 1980s. Unable to use his degree as a mechanical engineer, he got a job as a salesman at at a car dealership. In his first 90 days at the job, Nav managed to sell 127 cars, four times more than the second best seller.
He was so good that after two years he had the money to buy the dealership. Today he is the owner of various dealerships, including the largest Hyundai dealership in Canada, and has an estimated net worth of over $60 million.
Ever since the Toronto Raptors became an NBA team in 1995 (as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada), Bhatia has not missed a single home game.
In 2018 he founded the "Superfan Foundation" to bring people together through sport. He spends more than $300,000 annually, to invite thousands of underprivileged families to Raptors games.
When Milwaukee and Toronto faced each other for the first time since their conference finals matchup, Nav flew to Milwaukee for the game, and did something incredible.
He contacted the fan who had racially insulted him and invited him out to dinner. The fan accepted the invitation and after the dinner, Bhatia offered the fan and his family tickets to the game. Bhatia and the fan sat next to each other and enjoyed the game.
"We are friends for life now," the fan said.
We need more Nav Bhatia in this world.
