The desperation for applause and adulation just wafts off of him.

Put me down as underwhelmed too. I kept waiting for a surprise Nsync reunion or my longshot hope of Morris Day and The Time, or *something* but nothing ever materialized. And the baggy taupe camouflage Bass Pro Shop suit didn't help matters at all. It mottled the choreography.

I didn't recognize half of the songs, and the only real energy came from the final song, "Can't Fight the Feeling" (or, "That's the Trolls song!!!" screamed the 5 year old at the party.
I just kept waiting for someone else to show up and be the Surprise Special Guest Star. We were even Googling who has duets with in the past who might show up.

He never settled into a song. There were so many things going on and so many songs that it was really disjointed to me. He has a lot of hits, but we didn’t have to hear every single one.

I guess I don't know his discography as well as I thought. "My Love" was a #1 hit, but I don't recognize it at all.
I know he definitely did:
"Rock Your Body" "Mirrors" "Can't Stop the Feeling" "Sexy Back" "Suit and Tie" "Cry Me a River"
and "I Would Die 4 U", but I don't think I recognized any of the other songs. No "Love Stoned", no "Not a Bad Thing" (my personal favorite of his). No "What Comes Around Goes Around".

I thought it was horrible. (I actually didn't watch the whole thing until later... I got messages from friends saying how bad it was- so tuned in about 5 minutes in, then watched it in full later). This is coming from someone who doesn't generally like many of the halftime show performers, but can still give credit when it is due- ie; I really really do not care for Katy Perry. I thought some of her show was so dumb/silly... but I still recognized it as fun- and then she brought out Missy Elliot and all was redeemed and I loved it. This is what I often find with these shows- even if I don't particularly love the performer/performance there is something that wows me or makes me smile. This one... nothing. It actually made me annoyed/angry and that's it.
The sound was awful- that beginning bit was particularly horrendous. He looked scared/nervous through much of it. When the Prince sheet came up I turned the sound off- that was... just... NO. (I liked the city lights and Prince's symbol... I don't attribute that to PAB at all). It was like this was a rehearsal, and not the actual show. And, tbh, the disrespect to Prince, in his home city... makes me really mad at this whole performance. Horrible song choice, horrible acoustics, horrible visuals. Sorry Justin; Cry Me A River, indeed.
ETA- Yep, I just watched a bunch, back to 2011. They are all so good! So fun and energizing... I am re-watching Bruno Mars, Pab wishes he was this good.

Justin is usually a better performer. I was underwhelmed by his performance. I think the only thing that would have made me happy was if NSYNC came out and performed with him. Usually Justin seems to be having fun when he performs, but his enjoyment didn't carry over this time. Maybe he realizes the tide is turning on him? He always seems to have this need or want of people to like him. He just needs to take a page out of Rihanna's book and really not give a f*ck what people think. Black Twitter has been roasting and dragging him for quite some time now. They will never let him forget how he plead ignorance during Nipplegate, and how he emerged from Nipplegate with his career virtually unscathed. I refused to watch the halftime show. I heard the rumors of JT wanting to have a Prince hologram there. His camp didn’t shoot those rumors down though; Prince’s family did. I can’t believe he would even want to go there. If his show laid an egg, then I will chuckle with schaden.
