The sound was awful- that beginning bit was particularly horrendous. He looked scared/nervous through much of it. When the Prince sheet came up I turned the sound off- that was... just... NO. (I liked the city lights and Prince's symbol... I don't attribute that to PAB at all). It was like this was a rehearsal, and not the actual show. A nd, tbh, the disrespect to Prince, in his home city... makes me really mad at this whole performance. Horrible song choice, horrible acoustics, horrible visuals. Sorry Justin; Cry Me A River, indeed. Apparently hologram performances were explicitly condemned by Prince and all of these articles are saying it was scrapped from the performance...but that wrinkled sheet bit WAS a hologram duet, no? It was not only disrespectful of Prince's known feelings about the concept, it was poorly done. The sheet wasn't taut, so there were creases across the image and it just didn't go anywhere. I did like the purple lighting across the city though. Overall, I thought it was fine in the sense that it seemed to go according to plan (awkward selfie bit aside), but nothing to write home about. I've been virulently anti-JT* since the N'Sync days and have trouble giving him credit for anything, even when I like the song, but this was genuinely subpar for the venue and the number of eyeballs it was going to draw. *This is completely petty, but it has long irked me that he gets tagged as a sex symbol with those looks. I find him so deeply unattractive.

I hope the ghost of Prince haunts him forever. My jaw dropped when the image of Prince showed up. And "Rock your body." The audacity. Idk why this hit my funny bone so hard, but that line made me giggle for a full minute. Re-animating dead celebrities is some Black Mirror evilness and I'm not having it. I boycotted this mess and figured I'd just read the Greecie reviews, as they're the only ones that matter.

“I would die 4 U” as the hologram Prince song was a terrible choice as a posthumous tribute.
And the stupid pants with the drop crotch. He was pulling them up so he could actually, like, dance in them. What, his balls are so big he needs extra extra room down there?

The group I was watching with all felt the show was underwhelming. I will be so glad when the drop crotch pants are no longer in style. It was almost like he was trying to be Justin Bieber instead of Justin Timberlake. Although, Bieber probably would have put on a better show than that waste of time we got.

I keep reading that the purple lighting across the city was CGI. I guess that makes sense but I am disappointed all the same.

I do wonder if the projection on the scrim was the plan all along, or when the Twitter backlash started about the hologram, they retooled it. Either way it was tacky. If JT responds to the backlash, you can bet he will blame the producers of the show or someone else, and take no responsibility, just like he did with Janet.

I saw a recently profile pic of him, and I swear, the tip of his nose and the tip of his jaw are struggling to curve up and meet, like a Christmas nutcracker in the ballet.

I feel like his solo catalogue is just not that deep and he doesn’t really have any outright bangers which is what you need for this type of show. He really should’ve had some guest artists. I’m no fan of Katy Perry but I loved that she brought out Missy Elliot for her show.

I think the nostalgia factor would have driven sales up more, even if the album sucks. People are saying Prince and JT hated one another and had an ongoing feud, so I find the tribute really disturbing. This is coming from someone who likes PAB.

I think he definitely could have benefited from a special guest. Have the special guest do the Prince tribute! There were a lot of artists that could have done it well, and then he could avoid the whole thing where he was performing a tribute to an artist that he had feuded with. Janelle Monae would have been great.
