He's really funny! And even managed to make his suspect accents work in his favour in both "Knives Out" and "Logan Lucky." After Bond, I'd like to see him in more comedic roles.

I was alarmed to see his thread at the top after 8(!) years. I still love him, even if he has committed the offense of showing his age.
He had such an interesting career prior to the Bond movies, it's a shame that Bond seemed to push him in a commercial direction that was not right for him. I'm glad that he had a hit with Knives Out, which was a good movie, and I hope it leads to better things for him post-Bond.
He seems to have a contented homelife that is not doing much for his productivity.

OTOH, his performance as Bond was crucial for letting that dinosaur survive and translating it into the 21st century. He's done many interesting things with the Bond character and the financial security that comes with that must be nice. But yeah, it's good that he's starting to branch out from that because he's a very interesting actor that has been understandably constrained somewhat by the Bond franchise.
That Weisz and him seem to be doing fine is nice because I like him as an actor and I don't want paparazzi nonsense a la Affleck (take your pick of scandals...) dimming my appreciation of his movies.

He said he realized when he signed on for Bond that it might mark the end of putting anything else on his resume and that kind of turned out to be the case, so he went into it eyes open. People kept asking him with astonishment why he didn't immediately leap at the chance to play Bond and that's why.
Another thing hindering him IMO is that he lives in New York because that's where his personal life is, but he's better at British stuff. Exaggerated Southern accent aside, his American accent is generally not that great.

I still remember him from of all movies the very first Tomb Raider from 2001. I just found myself attracted to him in that film.

I can never unsee him as older Geordie in Our Friends in the North.(BBC drama well worth a hunt down and watch) it’s on YouTube it’s follows the lives of a group of friends in the North East of England from the 60s tp 90s.

Fitz, I took your advice and watched this. It was great! It's uploaded in its entirety on youtube and also on BritBox. It is very, very British. It referenced things like the storm of '87 and specific labor party leaders that I know nothing about, so the politics of it were a bit hard to follow. But what really matters is Daniel Craig was young and hot in it.

Indeed young Geordie was hot but I’m never getting over the aging down and out look they gave 1995 Geordie thats left an impression on me ! Ahh the storm that wasn’t forecast I actually remember that or at least the aftermath reported on news at the time!
Mark Strong look great in it too he has hair! I must rewatch again. Christopher Ecckeston too and Gina McKee a great cast that gone on to various level of different successes.
Edit The episode 1995 the cast were aged to be in their 50s which they I think are now in 2020, safe to say Daniel Craig has faired better than Geordie!

He's also very good in the BBC crime series "Ice House." Again, not sure about the accent, but even in these productions from the 90ies you see that he is a magnetic performer. He's also great in "Road to Perdition." That character is just pathetic and mean, and I think there's the temptation for actors to make such figures more sympathetic or more compelling somehow. Craig just does what needs to be done and makes him despicable and small. It's well-judged.
