I didn’t even give this attention because I knew she would be back. Her whole personality is built around Social Media.

LOL. I figured she’d last at least a month, nope. Honestly, I almost feel sorry for the her. What a lonely and sad existence she must lead. And she’s clearly not a happy or content person - she’s so obviously miserable for whatever reason. I don’t think she has any real or true friends. Let’s see, I give it 10 months before this cycle repeats itself.

She’s on some gorgeous vacation right now with her family (and likely some other friends) - Maldives or similar. And yet now is the time she needed to come back to Twitter? If I was in the Maldives, I would not notice the void of leaving Twitter, especially if I were posting frequently on Instagram as well. It really is a need for validation.

I think if your existence is performative, as it is with all these social media influencers, it would be jarring to be some place fancy and not be able to show it off. Otherwise you would be forced to be more present with your family and with yourself and your own thoughts. That’s actually what life is supposed to be like, but social media has made it intolerable for so many people.

I mean, she's still on instagram (and never left, I don't think) so it's not the inability to show it off that's getting to her. I do think she has a problem with the specific attention she gets from 1) having her assistants seek out the negative comments she gets on twitter and then 2) coming up with something mildly amusing to say in response. I cannot IMAGINE being on a luxury vacation in the Maldives and thinking "but I had some hot takes to put on twitter "

Yes, she's been on Instagram the whole time. Like petitesuite said, this goes farther than showing off. She obviously is addicted to the attention in the press she gets from her "clapbacks." Hell, her assistant probably sends them directly to People, as they can always be counted on to have a story about her ~witty comebacks.

Instagram and Twitter are both social media apps, but they're also very different. Instagram is more about sharing photos and videos and then receiving adulation from it. Twitter is platform to have a conversation, there is far more interaction with other users, especially if you don't limit who can respond to your tweets. I think if I ever had as many followers as her, I'd limit who could respond to me just so I could keep my sanity. The attention you get from both is different. I think she likes the interaction you get from Twitter which you really can't get from Instagram.

At the end of the day though, if you don't limit your use of both apps, it will slowly destroy your fragile mental state.

I just wouldn't care. I don't understand why a celebrity followed by a bunch of total strangers cares how each and every one of them replies. But I also don't understand Chrissy thinking her 13.7 million twitter followers are "friends".

If Chrissy just wanted to share her little thoughts and bon mots throughout the day, instagram stories are a good way to do that without any return engagement. Or an instagram post with the comments turned off. The thing is, she WANTS to fight with people.
