The accents are all over the place, Lady Gaga sounds Russian, Jeremy Irons just sounds British, and Jared Leto sounds ridiculous and is too close to Mario for my taste.

This was the first movie I have seen in a theater since the pandemic hit. I really liked the film. Like I recognize it has flaws (the accents were varied, the performances were at different levels from serious to campy, it was long with a slower pace throughout and then a rushed ending) but overall I really enjoyed it. I’m pretty sure Jared Leto was an offensive Italian stereotype but he did stand out and get laughs. Lady Gaga definitely understood the assignment. I don’t think Driver can do camp, it just doesn’t seem in his nature or vast range. I don’t care though because I love him as an actor and he’s always great in whatever. So I would recommend the movie for sure and I’m glad it’s doing well right now so maybe we can have more films released in theaters from someone other than Disney.

I liked it, too. It was a little slow the first half, and I think the ending was wrapped up too quickly, but I had a good time. I thought Gaga was great and I, for a chance, didn't mind Leto being set at 11.

I think I need to see this one again. I was VERY ANNOYED by Jared Leto. I thought he went way beyond camp and into complete scenery-chewing/over-acting territory. It was cringe-inducing for me.
That's a lot of hyphenated phrases.
I'm surprised that there aren't more awards coming out for this, but overall I think it felt disjointed. It was a slow family drama like The Godfather at some points, but then a rushed ridiculous satire at others..? I think the first hour and then the last 30 minutes were the strongest, so it probably could have used better editing.
Gaga deserves all noms for this absolutely. Leto does NOT.
And Adam Driver did fine as the "straight man" to deflect every other actor in this (yes, you too Al Pacino) but no nominations should come from this. Plus his best performance this year was Annette - which was supposed to come out after Cannes in May of 2020! And based on TLo's insight when it comes to being considered for an award, he didn't promote Last Duel at all (probably an agreement with Scott since he promoted Gucci a ton plus The Last Duel's message was a landmine but a much stronger performance) so everything is all messed up. Thanks, Covid!

Yeah, I thought Leto was baaad. Totally disregarding his fellow actors in the scenes to make himself an awards reel. Gaga was great, but even she was hindered by the disjointed script IMO. That's why this hasn't gained more awards momentum, seems to me. Driver understood the assignment and did what was necessary for that film, but agree that his highlight performance this year was "Annette". OTOH, I don't know that something like that would have ever gathered much awards support, since it's a weird French musical and Amazon doesn't seem interested in promoting it. Same with Last Duel, Disney seemed to have just dumped it. Which is a shame for Jodie Comer.
