Yeah, unfortunately I think Nicole believed that even though Tom was being rather heartless with her about the divorce, that he was still going to be a good parent and co-parent with her. I believe he offered a relaxed joint custody arrangement that was agreeable to them both. I don't think she saw it coming that the kids would be gradually turned against her until they no longer wanted to see her.

I think the only dirt Katie had on Tom was Scientology dirt - his history with Nicole, his weird lifestyle within the church, the handlers, the bizarre child-raising techniques he wanted to practice with Suri, the true story of their marriage and how it started, and probably a bunch of other weird shit we don't know about. She was going to fight to keep Suri away from anything Scientology-related and was prepared to tell all to achieve that. It was probably David Miscavige who ordered Tom to cut his losses and cave in exchange for Katie's silence.

I have occasionally wondered if it was something to do with their crazy "courtship" and anything to do with what, if anything, was going on with this:

But aside pillow stuffing claims, turkey basters, giving birth months earlier etc, it probably was what she had witnessed in Scientology and Tom's role in it. Whilst this was after "Blown for Good", Anonymous, Ex Scientology Kids, and Tom's own cult tapes it was pre Going Clear, Leah Remini and en masse celebrity and Sea Org walk outs.

They were going to throw everything at him to make sure she got total custody of Suri and he and his team figured it wasn't worth it.

Mad props to Martin Holmes who never got himself declared SP but managed to get everything in place for when his daughter was ready.

Less props to Katie who went along with some of the cult stuff for a few years at least when there were major red flags but probably did get in over her head at least a little. I'd still like to know what was up with the W magazine interview. Playing along, drunk of A list "love", lovebombed/brainwashed by the cult or actually drugged?

I don't think having contact with a parent who's in a dangerous cultish religion is healthy, but I do wonder from TC's perspective if he has any regret over losing Suri and not having a relationship with her. Even though he is 100% brainwashed in his religion, I just wonder if there is any untouched part of his brain or heart that realizes he gave up a relationship with his child at the behest of a cult leader. And Suri is old enough to understand this.

I 100% remember this article from the discussion on the board. And specifically this part.

This profile is seared into my memory the same way Plum Sykes' profile of Gwyneth Paltrow is.

I'm actually wondering if Suri would write a book one day. I doubt she's tied to an NDA especially since her parents divorced when she was so young.

Also, I think I'm in the minority that thinks Suri is his daughter. Especially when she was younger, I thought there were pictures where she really resembled him. (On a side note, I miss Suri's burn book)

Wasn't Katie's defining personality trait, as revealed in the article, that she loves cupcakes? Maybe Tom loves cupcakes.
