I think saying "Queen Consort" right now is a way of avoiding confusion - saying "The Queen" still makes everyone think of Elizabeth. There may also be a desire to ease everyone into the idea of Queen Camilla.
Reporters are also saying "King Charles the Third" at every opportunity, which is is a little funny, because I don't think we're going to confuse him with the previous Charles. I imagine we'll be hearing "King Charles" and "Queen Camilla" after a bit of time has passed.

Sophie Wessex, who was saddled with quite possibly the ugliest wedding tiara of all time and has paid her dues in loyal service and then some. Oh, God, don’t forget about the awful necklace Edward gave her that she felt forced to wear. I think the tiara wouldn't be so bad if the wires and the band weren't so obviously visible. It needs to be closer to the scalp. That cross hanging from the pearls is really unfortunate. Peak 1990s cheese.

I had to look it up and I don't think the tiara is that bad. But that necklace ... oof.

I don’t like it, but she has worn it better since then. She wears a lovely aquamarine one now that is quite nice. It can be converted to a necklace, too. I think Camilla’s hairstyle is very suited for the big guns, like the Greville. One of my personal favorites is the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland. As it was also QEII’s fave, I doubt we will see it again for a long, long time. Sigh. Maybe Catherine might wear it when Wills is King. Anyway, of course the magpie in me was what made me comment in here for the first time in ages. I’ve been reading these threads a lot. But, yeah, talk of jewelry and I’m all in.

You are right, it looks so much better. Filling the base with new stones and moving the existing clusters closer really helps reduce the visual negative space, which was its original flaw.

Did anyone see that Jenna Bush Hager was in Scotland and had dinner with Prince Charles the night before the Queen's passing? She and Camilla were going to collaborate on their book clubs, and she was at their home when the entire staff was scrambling to get them to Balmoral. I hope she can keep the Reading Room going now that she's Queen.

I haven’t read the article yet, but do you think Charles and Camilla appreciate her giving an interview about her time there? Maybe it was vetted by the Palace beforehand, though.
