Sophie Wessex, who was saddled with quite possibly the ugliest wedding tiara of all time and has paid her dues in loyal service and then some. Oh, God, don’t forget about the awful necklace Edward gave her that she felt forced to wear.

I’ve just googled the tiara. The design is prettyish, I was expecting something clunkier, but does look very dinky, almost like some dress up headband I’d get my daughter from Accessorise.
Which is the Edward necklace, doesn’t seem to be on her wedding gown pic?
Edit: nvm I just looked more closely at the wedding pic. Oh no it doesn’t go with the tiara at all. And although the design is perfectly fine in itself somehow the pearls which must surely be real once again look like costume jewellery. It’s odd the way they look like white beads again from Accessorise. Oh dear poor Sophie, she must have felt it when disloyal Meghan got such a gorgeous and striking tiara. Any gossip on how it happened? Did the Queen or Angela Keller just choose for Sophie with no input from her?

Any gossip on how it happened? Did the Queen or Angela Keller just choose for Sophie with no input from her? The tiara was actually given to Sophie for her own (whereas Meghan's was a loan); IIRC, it was built from some other piece. I keep hoping she'll have it modified, at least to make it so the three elements sit lower/closer to her head, but she also seems to have been such a loving DIL that I could see her never changing it, out of a sense of loyalty. The funny thing is, Elizabeth had jewelry modified and repurposed all the time. And even as clunky and weird as that tiara is, it doesn't hold a candle to Edward's pearls for sheer ugliness; as you say,, Ridha, they didn'tcomplement Sophie's delicate features, her dress, or the tiara at all. Imagine having to look at yourself in the pix for the rest of your life.

Out of curiosity (and maybe I missed this) but will Camilla never be called HM Queen Camilla? Will it always be Queen Consort? I know this wasn't the case with Queen Mary or the Queen Mother, so I guess I'm just wondering if it's out of respect because she's he's second wife and/or at the request of QEII?

My source is Wikipedia, but the Queen Mother was "Her Majesty The Queen" before her daughter took the throne and then was styled as "Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother."
Camilla is styled as "Her Majesty The Queen Consort." I don't understand why it's different.
Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it. In time I think people will be ok calling her Queen Camilla.

Exactly. Why is it different this time around? QEII's grandmother, Mary Teck, was HM Queen Mary (she was a consort of George V) and then when QEII's father reigned, her mother, became HM Queen Elizabeth and then like you said, The Queen Mother when QEII became the monarch. Are we waiting for King Charles's coronation to make it super-duper official?

My guess is that people don't really get the difference between a queen regnant like QEII who is a monarch in her own right and a queen consort, the wife of a king. Thus the "consort" is added to distinguish.
