I like her music too, especially the bluegrass stuff. She's written some great songs. I'm a huge fan of hers.

Oh, I had that thought too after seeing her Oscar's outfits. They must look so deflated on a hanger with no Dolly in them. I'm not a big Christian music fan, but there's one song that Dolly's done that I love: He's Alive. They used to air the video a bit on CMT and her performance is electrifying--gives me goosebumps every time. Bonus! Dolly Parton and Norah Jones.

Does anyone know who that guy (Duncan?) was, who was with her at the awards? Her husband doesn't appear in public, right? Is he still alive?

awesome clip of her with Norah Jones. Dolly is such a generous performer. Lots of love for her.
ETA: And she sure is comfortable onstage, isn't she?

I love Dolly. She's amazing. She just has the best attitude about showbusiness. She was on Isaac a few weeks ago, and he asked her about dressing up when she goes to the grocery store. She said that she doesn't do her own shopping, but will sometimes go out to Walmart at 3am to look around. Dolly said that she never goes anywhere without full hair and makeup because she's a celebrity. People expect her to look a certain way, and she feels a responsibility to them to deliver. If she's in public she shoud be prepared to be "Dolly". If someone saw her out looking ragged, they would be disappointed or think bad about her.

God, you guys scared me -- seeing Dana Reeve's name bumped and knowing why before opening the thread has me a little rattled.
Dolly is a national treasure.

I hate c(o)untry music with a passion, but I adore Dolly. At the risk of sounding cheesy, she really loves what she does, and it shows.

I'm always amazed at Dolly. Her voice is an enigma to me. It's so weak, but so strong. It's so emotional. I can't help but feel what ever she's singing about. That song, The Grass is Blue had me in tears....
